About The Position

The Facilities Technician - HVAC works primarily with the Facilities team with a focus on HVAC functionality, diagnostic, and repair. The Facilities Technician – HVAC is a part of a team of Facilities Technician and will work closely with team members to ensure the maintenance and upkeep of the facility is in good order.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • One year (12 months in total) of HVAC service and repair experience, commercial HVAC experience preferred.
  • Zero progressive discipline in the last six months (current team members).
  • Journeyman HVAC certification or equivalent trade experience.
  • EPA Universal Refrigerant Certification.
  • Strong knowledge of HVAC systems, controls, refrigeration cycles, electrical systems, and building automation systems.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical documentation and schematics.
  • Proficiency with diagnostic and testing equipment.
  • OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification.
  • Must have a team mindset.
  • Must possess a sense of urgency in completing work on time.
  • Must behave ethically and treat team members with respect.
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds and team lift 100 pounds per Cardinal standards.

Nice To Haves

  • Commercial HVAC experience preferred.
  • Experience with Building Automation Systems (BAS) preferred.
  • Knowledge of chillers, cooling towers, and energy management systems preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain, and repair HVAC equipment including rooftop units, split systems, package units, chillers, boilers, air handlers, exhaust systems, and refrigeration equipment.
  • Diagnose mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and electronic control system issues.
  • Perform preventative maintenance inspections and service on HVAC equipment.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, wiring diagrams, schematics, and technical manuals.
  • Test system performance and make adjustments to optimize efficiency and reliability.
  • Troubleshoot and repair motors, compressors, pumps, thermostats, sensors, control circuits, and related components.
  • Install and modify ductwork, piping, controls and associated HVAC components as needed.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations and company safety policies.
  • Respond to emergency service calls during scheduled on-call rotations.
  • Communicate professionally with management and facility personnel regarding system conditions and repair recommendations.
  • Other duties as assigned.
