Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • At least one year of experience operating a forklift in a warehouse environment.
  • At least one year of experience safely using power tools, including saws and drills; ability to use hand tools and multimeters.
  • At least one year of experience working with basic mechanical and/or electrical components.
  • Ability to safely operate required warehouse equipment, including high-lift equipment, RC equipment, and pallet jacks.
  • Good communication skills, knowledge of safe work practices, and the ability to work effectively with a diverse group of associates.
  • Ability to use software applications and accurately enter battery and maintenance information.
  • Ability to move materials weighing up to 50 pounds; stand and walk during shifts lasting up to 10 hours; and use tools while bending, stooping, and reaching, with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Regular, predictable attendance is required.

Nice To Haves

  • Battery or charger maintenance and repair experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the Hot Swap process and safely remove and replace lift batteries using the BHS sled.
  • Perform scheduled daily and weekly preventive maintenance on batteries and equipment; complete daily logs and required maintenance documentation.
  • Wash batteries, check and maintain battery water levels, inspect watering systems, and monitor the battery deionizer.
  • Check battery specific gravity and use a multimeter to measure battery voltage.
  • Equalize batteries as needed in accordance with established procedures.
  • Inspect and maintain battery cables, insulation, and connectors; perform repairs within the scope of training and authorization.
  • Monitor battery charger status and maintain chargers, racks, drip trays, and rollers in clean, serviceable condition.
  • Maintain RoboWrap batteries and replace them as needed.
  • Use battery changer software application to record battery change information.
  • Collect and record runtime data, review performance reports, and report underperforming batteries for follow-up.
  • Collect forklift hour meter readings and enter them into the computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) to support preventive maintenance scheduling.
  • Follow established safety procedures, use and maintain required personal protective equipment (PPE), and operate equipment only after required training and evaluation.
  • Check safety switches for proper operation and promptly report malfunctions or unsafe conditions.
  • Dispose of hazardous materials in accordance with company procedures and applicable safety and environmental requirements.
  • Operate the powered industrial scrubber and perform housekeeping throughout the warehouse, including battery change areas, to keep floors and work areas clean and safe.
  • Transport tools and supplies, keep tools and equipment serviceable, and maintain supply stocks.
  • Manage pallet flow, including pallet repairs and reports; transport, deliver, and retrieve pallets, and load and unload trailers to support operational needs.
  • Help coordinate, load, and unload recycling materials.
  • Load corrugated cardboard into the baler and operate it as needed.
  • Provide standby relief and perform other job-related duties and projects as assigned by the supervisor.
