About The Position

Under the supervision of the Facilities Manager, the Facilities Team Member maintains the integrity of Feeding San Diego’s (FSD) buildings thereby assuring a safe and clean work environment. This is accomplished by performing general maintenance/cleaning tasks and other duties necessary for the general upkeep of the facilities. This position will interact closely with Operations teams. The position also requires frequent interaction with all FSD staff and volunteers of our community.

Requirements

  • Experience working in a warehouse environment
  • Experience performing janitorial and other general cleaning tasks
  • Experience performing general maintenance tasks
  • Ability to work under pressure with tight deadlines and thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively; follow through on tasks with minimal supervision
  • Passion for and commitment to Feeding San Diego’s mission to alleviate hunger and food insecurity
  • Must have reliable transportation and possess and maintain a valid California driver’s license, a satisfactory driving record, including proof of personal vehicle insurance coverage and insurability under the Agency’s insurance carrier standards.
  • Must be able to obtain and keep a forklift, mobile elevated work platform and electric pallet jack certification. Training will be provided.

Responsibilities

  • Performs basic construction and maintenance tasks in the warehouses and office areas.
  • Perform cleaning tasks based on daily, weekly, monthly, and quarterly schedule.
  • Respond to requests from employees to perform maintenance tasks.
  • Travels to various stores to buy necessary supplies for facility tasks
  • Identifies potential safety hazards and create work orders
  • Recycling and waste duties, when needed.
  • Use a forklift/pallet jack to organize yard, as needed.
  • Run cardboard bailer and sort pallets on an as-needed basis.
  • Use a mobile elevated work platform to clean and maintain areas that are elevated (e.g., racking, lights)
  • Operations cross-departmental work as needed.
  • Other duties as needed.
