About The Position

The Facilities Student Worker assists the Assistant Director of Facilities with maintaining residence hall and common area furniture. The role supports inventory, furniture moving and repairs, weekly walkthroughs, and reporting issues found around campus. It also provides administrative and operational support to the office, responds to furniture work orders, and assists with training new facilities student workers and other office projects as needed. The position requires availability Monday through Friday between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m., with some weekends as needed. The role requires lifting at least 50 pounds and driving trucks, vans, or panel trucks. This is a part-time, onsite student position with pay starting at $12.77 per hour; student employees are paid at least the current Virginia minimum wage per hour.

Requirements

Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
Clean driving record.
Ability to drive a truck, van, and/or panel truck.
Critical thinking skills.
Ability to work as a team player.
Developed people skills.
Ability to lift a minimum of 50 pounds.

Nice To Haves

Prior office and customer service experience.
Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
Ability to work cooperatively with employees, students, and the public.
Ability to communicate well both verbally and in writing.

Responsibilities

Assist with administrative and operational aspects of the office.
Assist with inventory checks.
Assist with residence hall inspections.
Assist with moving furniture and facility logistics.
Respond to furniture work orders.
Assist in training new Facilities Student Workers.
Assist with office projects as they arise.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Be available Monday through Friday between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m., and some weekends as needed.
Help maintain residence hall and common area furniture, including repairs, weekly walkthroughs, and reporting campus issues.
