About The Position

We are looking for enthusiastic and eager-to-learn students to join our team as a Facilities Student Assistant. This position offers a unique opportunity to shadow and work alongside experienced professionals in various skilled trades, including landscape, renovation, restoration, facility maintenance, HVAC, and mechanical systems. The ideal candidate will gain hands-on experience and valuable insights into these trades while contributing to the maintenance and improvement of our campus.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled at Ft. Hayes Vocational school through Columbus City Schools
  • Interest in learning about various skilled trades and facility maintenance.
  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Willingness to learn and take on new challenges.
  • Physical ability to perform manual labor and lift heavy objects.

Nice To Haves

  • Students will need to provide all applicable minor work permit paperwork including parental permission.
  • Students need to be able to provide their own transportation.

Responsibilities

  • Shadow skilled trades professionals in renovation, restoration, facility maintenance, HVAC, and mechanical systems.
  • Assist with tasks such as painting, carpentry, general repairs, and maintenance.
  • Support HVAC system maintenance and troubleshooting under the guidance of experienced technicians.
  • Aid in mechanical system inspections and repairs.
  • Learn and apply safety protocols and guidelines in all tasks.
  • Maintain accurate records of work performed and materials used.
  • Collaborate with team members to ensure efficient and effective project completion.
