About The Position

The Facilities & Property Manager is responsible for the overall management, maintenance, safety, and operational readiness of Girl Scouts of Connecticut's camps, service centers, vehicles, and properties located throughout Fairfield and New Haven Counties. This leadership position oversees Facility Maintainers and contracted vendors while ensuring Council properties are safe, compliant, well-maintained, and fully operational in support of Girl Scout programming. This position provides leadership for preventative maintenance, capital improvement projects, fleet maintenance, property inspections, vendor management, budgeting, payroll approval, and staff supervision. The Facilities & Property Manager works independently from remote Council locations and reports to the Director of Property and Facilities (or Chief Finance & Administrative Officer). A Council vehicle (truck), fuel card, and required equipment will be provided. This is a fully remote position requiring regular travel between Girl Scouts of Connecticut properties throughout the assigned region.

Requirements

  • Minimum of five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in facilities management, property management, construction management, or a related field.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of supervisory or management experience leading maintenance or facilities teams.
  • Experience managing payroll, scheduling, and employee performance.
  • Experience managing vendors, contractors, and facility improvement projects.
  • Valid Connecticut Driver's License with acceptable driving record.
  • Certified Pool Operator (CPO) certification required or ability to obtain within six months of hire.
  • OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification required or ability to obtain.
  • Working knowledge of: Commercial building maintenance, Preventive maintenance programs, Electrical systems (basic troubleshooting), Plumbing systems, HVAC systems, Carpentry and general construction.
  • Ability to safely operate maintenance equipment, trailers, and Council vehicles.
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 90 pounds.
  • Ability to climb ladders, work at heights, and perform physical labor indoors and outdoors.
  • Ability to work in all weather conditions.
  • Ability to travel extensively throughout western Connecticut.
  • Ability to work evenings and weekends during emergencies or operational needs.
  • Statewide travel may be required periodically.
  • Successful completion of required background screenings.
  • Maintain membership with Girl Scouts of the CT.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to the mission and values of Girl Scouts of Connecticut.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise, mentor, schedule, and evaluate Facility Maintainers assigned to the western region.
  • Approve employee timecards and payroll.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing maintenance team.
  • Coordinate work assignments and prioritize maintenance requests across multiple properties.
  • Ensure staff comply with all safety policies, OSHA regulations, and Council procedures.
  • Assist with recruiting, onboarding, and training maintenance personnel.
  • Oversee the maintenance, repair, appearance, and operation of all assigned camps, service centers, and Council-owned properties.
  • Conduct regular property inspections and develop preventative maintenance schedules.
  • Ensure buildings, grounds, utilities, and infrastructure remain safe and operational.
  • Coordinate emergency repairs and respond to after-hours property emergencies as needed.
  • Maintain compliance with local, state, and federal regulations governing facilities and life safety.
  • Oversee the scheduling of inspections, maintenance, repairs, registration, and operational readiness of Girl Scouts of Connecticut vehicles.
  • Coordinate preventative maintenance schedules and repairs for the Council fleet.
  • Maintain fleet maintenance records and ensure vehicles meet all safety requirements.
  • Coordinate vendor services for vehicle maintenance and repairs.
  • Coordinate small and medium-sized facility improvement and renovation projects.
  • Obtain competitive quotes and oversee contractors and vendors.
  • Monitor project schedules, budgets, and quality of work.
  • Ensure contractor compliance with Council safety and insurance requirements.
  • Provide hands-on assistance with maintenance projects as needed, including carpentry, plumbing, painting, electrical troubleshooting, HVAC coordination, and general repairs.
  • Oversee swimming pool operations, maintenance, and seasonal opening/closing procedures.
  • Ensure all maintenance equipment is properly maintained and safely operated.
  • Assist with departmental budgeting and expense management.
  • Monitor maintenance expenditures and recommend cost-saving opportunities.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records, inspection reports, payroll approvals, fleet records, and vendor documentation.
  • Prepare reports and updates for leadership regarding property conditions and ongoing projects.
