About The Position

The Arizona Department of Corrections, Rehabilitation & Reentry (ADCRR) is seeking an experienced FACILITIES PROJECT MANAGER who builds Correctional security fencing to meet all physical plant standard requirements. In this position, you will be required to inspect locations to ascertain fencing conditions, advise on appropriate fencing materials, and then build and place these barriers in specified areas. Requirements

  • Extensive knowledge of prison operations, security and maintenance
  • Design and construction of building renewal facility improvements and/or major tenant improvements
  • Requirements of all Occupational Safety & Health Administration (OSHA), National, State, and Local Building/Fire Codes, State Regulatory Agencies, Statutory Requirements
  • State Governmental processes and practices regarding funding requests, purchasing, and management systems
  • Planning and program development processes in governmental building/design construction projects
  • Architectural and engineering contract requirements
  • Security fence installation
  • Establishing and maintaining interpersonal relationships
  • Oral and written communication skills
  • Public speaking, planning, calculating, problem analysis and resolution
  • Establish priorities and meet deadlines and objectives
  • Communicate effectively with a wide variety of individuals at all organizational levels
  • Read and interpret construction documents including blueprints, schematic designs, and elevations
  • Apply and interpret Federal and State law, Departmental policies, procedures, rules and regulations
  • Learn and adhere to the ADCRR policies and procedures
  • Work in a prison environment
  • Possess and retain a current, valid class-appropriate driver’s license
  • Complete all required training, and successfully pass all necessary driver’s license record checks
  • Maintain acceptable driving records
  • Complete all required driver training
  • Maintain the statutorily required liability insurance
  • Successfully complete the Electronic Employment Eligibility Verification Program (E-Verify)

Nice To Haves

  • Minimum of ten (10) years minimum experience working with all security levels of offenders in a various correctional settings
  • OSHA 30 certifications for construction

Responsibilities

  • Travels to various prison sites inspecting locations to ascertain fencing conditions, advise on appropriate fencing materials, and then build and place these barriers in specified areas proposing materials and finishes that fit the security needs of the sites while understanding the ways in which climates and terrains dictate fencing solutions
  • Inspects property plans to determine the parameters of each site when these are unclear, conducts site inspections to ascertain the number of materials needed to complete each installation
  • Measures the length of each section that requires fencing, determining the requisite height and shape of each fence in collaboration with security requirements
  • Prepares the site by digging holes and trenches in which the fencing will be positioned
  • Joins, raises, and secures segments of the fence in place
  • Checks for gaps and vulnerabilities in the fencing and correcting these, as needed
  • Manages installation ensuring time lines and budget are met
  • Provides weekly project status reports to Bureau Administrator
  • Drives on State business with a possible overnight stay
  • Performs other duties appropriate to the assignment
