About The Position

Incumbents perform project management functions over capital improvement projects and maintenance of existing facilities. As on-site representatives of the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department (LVMPD), incumbents manage the work of contractors involved in the design and engineering of construction projects; manage the work of building contractors; manage the planning, scheduling, and performance of maintenance contracts and activities for all LVMPD buildings, facilities, and equipment; and collaborate, work in conjunction with and lead Facilities Maintenance Coordinators, Building Services Technicians and custodial staff.

Requirements

  • Five years of increasingly responsible experience in managing construction projects, including managing the work of contractors involved in construction design and engineering and contractors involved in facility construction and maintenance, which covers contract management and electrical, mechanical, and structural systems and repairs.
  • An Associate’s degree from an accredited college or university in construction management, facilities management, drafting, architectural design, engineering or a related area, or equivalent.
  • Possession of a Class C Nevada Driver License.
  • Be a citizen/naturalized citizen or permanent resident alien without conditions on status of the United States of America by the date of the first test instrument.
  • Be at least 18 years old by the date of the first test instrument.

Nice To Haves

  • Five or more years of supervisory experience in facility maintenance management to include electrical, mechanical/HVAC/plumbing, and multi-discipline building repairs.
  • Post-high school education in the electrical trade, mechanical trade, general construction, and/or management.
  • A Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited college or university in Construction Management, Facilities Management, Drafting, Architectural Design, Engineering or a related area, or equivalent.
  • More than eight years of experience in managing construction projects and facility maintenance; managing the work of contractors involved in construction design and engineering and contractors involved in facility construction; facility maintenance which covers contract management of janitorial, landscaping, including electrical, mechanical, and structural systems maintenance and repairs.
  • Current certification as a Certified Construction Manager issued by the American National Standards Institute; or comparable professional certifications in construction management issued by an accredited college or university.

  • Manage the work of building contractors.
  • Manage the planning, scheduling, and performance of maintenance contracts and activities for all LVMPD buildings, facilities, and equipment.
  • Collaborate, work in conjunction with and lead Facilities Maintenance Coordinators, Building Services Technicians and custodial staff.
