About The Position

The Facilities Project Manager at East Texas A&M University (ETAMU) is responsible for planning, coordination, and execution of capital improvement, renovation, and new construction projects on campus. The Facilities Project Manager ensures projects are delivered on time, within budget, and in accordance with university standards, applicable to codes, and sustainability goals. This position serves as the primary liaison between the university, design professionals, contractors, consultants, and end-users. Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in construction science, architecture/engineering, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 5 years' experience in project management, construction management, engineering, or related field.
  • 5+ years hands on experience managing facilities or construction projects.
  • Knowledgeable project budgeting, scheduling, procurement processes, and construction principles and practices.
  • Ability to multi-task and work well alone and as part of a team.
  • Valid Class C Driver's License
  • Knowledge of ADA and Fire codes related to building ingress and egress.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, coordinate, and manage all phases of capital improvement, renovation, and new construction projects from concept through completion.
  • Develop and maintain project budgets, schedules, and scopes, ensuring alignment with university goals and financial constraints.
  • Collaborate with university stakeholders—including academic departments, administration, and facilities operations—to define project needs and priorities.
  • Select, contract, and oversee architects, engineers, consultants, and contractors in accordance with university procurement policies.
  • Review design documents for compliance with university standards, ADA, life safety codes, and sustainability requirements.
  • Conduct and lead project meetings, ensuring effective communication between internal teams, design professionals, and contractors.
  • Monitor construction activities to verify progress, quality, safety, and adherence to plans and specifications.
  • Manage change orders, RFIs, and contract modifications, ensuring appropriate documentation and approval processes.
  • Track and report on project performance, including cost, schedule, and risk management metrics.
  • Coordinate project inspections, testing, and commissioning to ensure systems and equipment meet performance standards.
  • Ensure project compliance with applicable federal, state, and local codes, university policies, and safety regulations.
  • Facilitate project closeout, ensuring completion of punch lists, final payments, warranties, and turnover of as-built documentation.
  • Identify and mitigate project risks, proactively addressing issues that could impact scope, cost, or schedule.
  • Perform design/drafting related to projects by using AutoCAD latest version, as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.
