About The Position

The Facilities Plant Technician is responsible for the safe operation, monitoring, maintenance, and troubleshooting of critical hospital utility and infrastructure systems. This role ensures uninterrupted operation of essential building systems that support patient care, regulatory compliance, and facility reliability. The technician performs preventative maintenance, responds to system alarms and emergencies, documents system performance, and maintains compliance with healthcare and safety standards. This is a 1st Shift 7am to 3:30pm M-F with rotating weekends schedule.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED required.

Nice To Haves

• Technical/trade school training preferred.
• 2-5 years of commercial, industrial, or healthcare facilities experience preferred.
• Experience with hospital central plants and BAS systems preferred.
• Stationary Engineer License (where applicable)
• Boiler Operator Certification
• HVAC Certification
• EPA Universal Refrigerant Certification

Responsibilities

• Operate, monitor, inspect, and maintain hospital utility systems.
• Operate and maintain steam boilers and related systems.
• Monitor chilled water plants, chillers, cooling towers, and HVAC equipment.
• Monitor and maintain medical air and vacuum systems.
• Monitor domestic water systems and water treatment equipment.
• Operate and monitor emergency generators and transfer switches.
• Monitor Building Automation Systems (BAS) and respond to alarms.
• Perform preventative maintenance and repairs.
• Maintain operational logs and work order documentation.
• Comply with OSHA, Joint Commission, NFPA, CMS, and hospital safety standards.
