About The Position

Boeing Commercial Airplanes (BCA) is looking for a Facilities Plant Engineer - Civil/Structural (Level 3 or 4) to support the Facilities Maintenance team onsite in Portland, Oregon. This role provides structural engineering support for manufacturing operations, including new construction projects, existing building modifications, bridge cranes support structures, and machine foundations. The engineer will develop moderately complex conceptual designs, final designs, cost estimates, and provide maintenance support for the civil/structural phases of buildings, equipment installations, utility systems, and grounds. Responsibilities include reviewing civil/structural designs for compliance with customer requirements, building codes, and applicable regulations, and planning, managing, and executing facility engineering and construction projects. This involves scope development, budgeting, scheduling, and communication of project status. The role also requires coordinating multidisciplinary design efforts, developing and reviewing engineering deliverables, managing contractor and supplier performance, and ensuring regulatory and jurisdictional compliance. Maintaining accurate project and facility documentation is also a key aspect of this position.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field
3+ years of experience using AutoCAD (or similar CAD package)
3+ years of experience reading and interpreting engineering drawings and specifications (e.g., blueprint/schematic reading, specification, change, design)
3+ years of experience with Microsoft Office suite including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Project
3+ years of experience in Aerospace, Fabrication, or manufacturing environment
Professional Engineer (PE) license
2+ years of experience supporting machine foundation design and construction requirements and/or bridge cranes and crane infrastructure requirements

Responsibilities

Provide structural engineering support for the manufacturing operations, including new construction projects, existing building modifications, bridge cranes support structures, and machine foundations.
Develops moderately complex conceptual designs, final designs, cost estimates and provides maintenance support for the civil/structural phases of buildings, equipment installations, utility systems and grounds
Reviews civil/structural designs to assess compliance with customer requirements, building codes and applicable regulations by applying knowledge of construction principles, practices, and materials
Plan, manage, and execute facility engineering and construction projects, including scope development, budgeting, scheduling, and communication of project status and performance.
Coordinate multidisciplinary design efforts by integrating internal engineering teams, external consultants, and stakeholders to translate customer requirements into compliant design solutions.
Develop and review engineering deliverables, including drawings, specifications, design documents, and permit packages to ensure alignment with project objectives and facility standards.
Manage contractor and supplier performance, including supporting vendor selection, reviewing proposals, defining scopes of work, and ensuring compliance with contract obligations.
Ensure regulatory and jurisdictional compliance by supporting permitting activities, coordinating with government agencies, and verifying that construction documentation and design changes meet applicable standards.
Maintain accurate project and facility documentation, including drawing archives, contractor redlines, and records required for regulatory and internal compliance.
