Civil Structural Engineer
About The Position
Becht is looking for a mid-career Civil Structural Engineer who wants to take the next step in their technical career. Becht is a world-class, family-owned multidiscipline engineering firm serving the energy sector (refining, petrochemical, and power generation industries), providing expertise that spans both traditional and emerging technology. Becht is a technical leader in pressure vessels, piping, structures, and materials and as such has a major role in international codes and standards, allowing a unique opportunity to both learn and contribute at an industry-wide level. We emphasize multidiscipline problem-solving and collaboration to solve the most challenging design and equipment reliability problems, and our unique network of over 1200 accomplished technical experts spanning all engineering disciplines provides even further opportunities for learning and growth. This opportunity is for the Mechanical Division within Becht, consisting of more than 40 people. This position is remote, with the need to travel up to 30%.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Civil or Structural Engineering or closely related discipline
- 5+ years’ civil and structural experience in the refining, petrochemical or power generation industries
Nice To Haves
- Professional and/or Structural Engineering License
- Experience with the application of industry codes and standards such as ASCE 7, AISC, ACI
- Ability to travel to customer sites
- Experience with the commercial software AutoCAD, Revit, STAAD.Pro, Risa, or SAP2000
- Strong grasp of engineering fundamentals and mechanics
- Self-motivated with strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills
Responsibilities
- Foundation and structural design experience
- Knowledge of plant layout and operations
- Foundation / reinforced concrete design
- Experience working with refinery/plant equipment (tanks, plate structures, boilers, stacks, tabletop structures, fired heater incasing, etc.)
- Field troubleshooting, repairs and system walk-downs
- Turnaround support, planning & execution
