About The Position

The Facilities Mechanic I is responsible for performing routine maintenance, repairs, and inspections of facility systems, utilities, equipment, and building infrastructure to support safe, reliable, and compliant operations. This role assists in maintaining building systems, responding to service requests, completing preventive maintenance activities, and supporting facility operations within a GMP-regulated biotechnology environment. The position works under general supervision while developing technical skills across multiple maintenance disciplines. This role requires on-site presence at our Seal Beach, CA location.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Typically 0–3 years of building maintenance, facilities, manufacturing, utilities, or related mechanical experience.
  • Basic knowledge of electrical, HVAC, plumbing, and mechanical building systems.
  • Familiarity with hand tools, power tools, and maintenance equipment.
  • Ability to read and follow maintenance procedures and work instructions.
  • Basic computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to document work accurately and maintain maintenance records.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Ability to identify problems and seek appropriate guidance when needed.

Nice To Haves

  • Trade school certification, vocational training, or Associate's degree in a technical discipline preferred.
  • Experience in a GMP-regulated, pharmaceutical, biotechnology, or manufacturing environment is preferred but not required.
  • Familiarity with CMMS systems is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine maintenance and repair activities involving building systems, including electrical, HVAC, plumbing, lighting, doors, fixtures, and general facility equipment.
  • Respond to service calls and work orders in a timely manner.
  • Execute preventive maintenance activities following established schedules and procedures.
  • Assist with troubleshooting facility equipment and utility system issues under the guidance of senior mechanics or management.
  • Document maintenance activities, repairs, and inspections in the CMMS system.
  • Maintain accurate records and ensure compliance with Good Documentation Practices (GDP).
  • Assist with monitoring facility utility systems and Building Automation System (BAS) alarms.
  • Support facility projects, equipment installations, office moves, and workspace modifications.
  • Maintain inventory of maintenance supplies, tools, and spare parts.
  • Assist contractors and vendors performing maintenance or repair work on-site.
  • Adhere to all safety, environmental, GMP, and company policies and procedures.
  • Participate in required training programs and maintain qualification status.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Applies basic mechanical and maintenance knowledge to perform routine assignments.
  • Works under general supervision with guidance provided for non-routine tasks.
  • Independently completes routine preventive maintenance and corrective work orders.
  • Escalates complex equipment failures, utility issues, or facility concerns to senior team members.
  • Supports achievement of facility reliability, safety, and compliance objectives.
