About The Position

The Facilities Manager is responsible for the strategic oversight, maintenance, and operational integrity of the Florida Panthers Ice Den. This leadership role manages a team of maintenance technicians and external contractors while ensuring all building systems — including rink refrigeration, HVAC, plumbing, and electrical — are maintained to the highest standards of performance and safety. The Facilities Manager serves as the primary point of contact for all facility operations, vendor relationships, and capital improvement projects. This is a highly visible role that directly shapes the experience of every skater, event guest, and team member who enters the Ice Den.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • 5+ years of progressive facilities maintenance experience, with at least 1 year in a supervisory or management role
  • EPA Universal Certification required
  • Demonstrated experience managing teams and contractors in a fast-paced, multi-system facility environment
  • Strong working knowledge of mechanical systems: refrigeration, HVAC, plumbing, and electrical
  • Proficiency with CMMS platforms and Microsoft Office Suite
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical specifications
  • Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills
  • Flexibility to respond to after-hours emergencies and work nights, weekends, and holidays as needed

Nice To Haves

  • Associate's or bachelor's degree in facilities management, engineering, or related field preferred
  • Experience managing facilities at an ice rink, arena, or multi-use sports and entertainment venue
  • Hands-on background in refrigeration, ice-making systems, or chiller plant operations
  • Experience developing and managing capital budgets and multi-year maintenance plans
  • Brazing/welding, soldering, or basic fabrication skills

Responsibilities

  • Lead, supervise, and develop a team of facilities maintenance technicians, including scheduling, performance management, and professional growth
  • Establish clear priorities, delegate effectively, and hold the team accountable to quality standards and timelines
  • Foster a safety-first culture and ensure compliance with all OSHA and facility-specific safety protocols
  • Conduct regular team meetings, training sessions, and performance reviews
  • Oversee day-to-day operations of all building systems including rink refrigeration, HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and ice-making equipment
  • Ensure rink ice quality standards are consistently met, supporting the full schedule of league play, public skating, and tournaments
  • Monitor facility systems and implement proactive measures to prevent equipment failures and unplanned downtime
  • Manage the computerized maintenance management system (CMMS); ensure work orders are properly assigned, tracked, and closed out
  • Source, negotiate with, and manage service contracts with vendors, contractors, and equipment suppliers
  • Oversee third-party work to ensure quality, safety compliance, and on-time delivery
  • Maintain up-to-date records of warranties, service agreements, and vendor contacts
  • Develop and manage the annual facilities maintenance budget; track expenses against budget and report variances to leadership
  • Identify and prioritize capital improvement projects; prepare project proposals with cost-benefit analysis and timelines
  • Partner with the General Manager and finance team on multi-year facility planning and infrastructure investments
  • Coordinate facilities resources to support tournaments, events, and high-traffic rink schedules
  • Serve as the primary on-call escalation point for after-hours facility emergencies
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with ice operations, programming, and front-of-house teams to ensure seamless guest and athlete experiences
