About The Position

Reporting directly to the Chief Financial Officer (CFO), the Facilities Manager will work closely with all Kentucky College of Art + Design (KyCAD) faculty, staff, and students. The heart of this job involves working as part of a larger team to provide support to all facilities at KyCAD to help ensure effective and efficient practices throughout the organization. The major functions of this position are of facilities and administrative capacities.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED)
  • 3 years' experience in general building maintenance, basic electrical, plumbing, HVAC, carpentry or paint trades experience
  • Technical training, experience providing logistical support, repair or maintenance and work order process experience
  • Familiarity with safety programs and OSHA guidelines
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office
  • Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing
  • Ability to lift 30lbs (approx.) and must be able to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects, including the human body.
  • Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record
  • Ability to maintain a flexible work schedule, evening and weekend work may be required.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate, organize, approve, and manage the routine maintenance, repair, remodel, minor renovations, and minor construction in the facilities; and sometimes, directly supervise or provide, the performance of emergency and routine maintenance on these facilities.
  • Provide comprehensive technical project leadership, planning, coordination, and management oversight of the work involved in maintenance repair, remodel, minor renovations, and projects.
  • Communicate information regarding project status to stakeholders, as necessary.
  • Problem-solve various facility matters as they arise.
  • Oversee company issues and ensure that problems are resolved follows-up with KyCAD community and external vendors on service calls and maintenance requests to ensure timely response to repairs and requests as appropriate.
  • Support the KyCAD safety committee and work directly with the CFO as needed to write facilities procedures and implement Health & Safety procedures on campus.
  • Prepare a multi-year deferred maintenance plan and project plans; anticipate requirements for exceptional maintenance efforts, develop appropriate contingency plans to respond to those needs and other emergency conditions, remain available for on-call support for emergency responses, and assist with efforts to restore the environment to normalcy; reduce the likelihood of a disruption of services (I.e., heating, internet-Wi-Fi, water, cooling, electricity) provided to the facilities and assure around-the clock responsiveness to failures or emergency situations.
  • Ensure that all service providers are provided appropriate direction, leadership, guidance, support, and that the work performance of service providers meet Corporation and College standards and expectations, and by spot-checking work in the field, evaluate the quality of the work performed.
  • Assist with the development and documentation of minor renovations and minor construction; serve as a project manager for these projects.
  • Serve as department liaison with other offices that provide direct facility services related to academics, student services, student studio's, metal, wood, and foundry shops, through clear, concise communication and a collaborative work approach.
