About The Position

Easy Mile Fitness (EMF), a multi-unit franchisee operating more than 70 Planet Fitness clubs, is hiring a Facilities Manager. The role leads a team of Facility Service Managers and owns the contract and capital expense programs that keep the clubs operating. It is accountable for developing a distributed, field-based team; negotiating and managing national and regional service contracts and preventative maintenance agreements; and planning, budgeting, and executing capital expenditures for equipment, HVAC, life-safety systems, and building envelopes. Day-to-day oversight of club spaces and systems is delivered through the Facility Service Manager team. The Facilities Manager works closely with the VP, Development and cross-functional colleagues to support day-to-day company operations. The position oversees maintenance and repair activity, vendor relationships, reporting, invoices, and budgets, while identifying opportunities to improve processes and reduce costs. Travel may be required up to 25%. The role is based in the company's downtown Boston office, described as a new, fun, and engaging environment with a small, dynamic team.

Requirements

At least 3 years of facilities management experience.
At least 2 years of project management experience supporting a large team in a fast-paced environment.
Experience directly managing people, including remote staff or a distributed maintenance or facilities-services team.
Experience negotiating and administering vendor contracts and managing capital expense budgets.
Ability to adapt and change direction in response to a fluctuating work environment.
Initiative to anticipate, identify, solve, and follow through on problems, and to act independently with accuracy, professionalism, and attention to detail.
Ability to organize work priorities and resources independently and complete tasks or projects on or before deadlines.
Project and time management skills, including the ability to handle multiple projects at once.
Self-starter who can anticipate needs and act ahead of direct guidance.
Experience handling confidential or highly sensitive information with discretion and professionalism.
Ability to lift up to 75 pounds at times and access and navigate all areas of the facilities and company equipment.
Comfort working in a fast-paced environment, wearing multiple hats, and getting hands-on as needed.

Responsibilities

Coordinate and oversee facilities and maintenance issues to keep all Easy Mile Fitness locations operating at full capacity.
Manage a team of 20 across three regions, including Facility Service Managers and a Facilities Coordinator.
Manage landlord and trade partner relationships.
Maintain the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS), including reporting.
Manage national and regional trade partners to ensure club repair and maintenance requests are completed promptly and cost-effectively while meeting EMF quality standards.
Manage and negotiate annual preventative maintenance agreements for equipment, HVAC, life-safety equipment, and club spa amenities.
Source and maintain an effective trade partner base and partner with in-house resources.
Identify opportunities for process improvement and savings.
Monitor maintenance trends and initiate action in response to positive or negative developments.
Process invoices in a timely manner.
Track budgets for projects, club maintenance, and service programs.
Update and distribute weekly maintenance and repair reports.
Travel up to 25%.
Perform other duties as needed based on club and business needs.
