About The Position

Matrix Medical Management is looking for a full-time Facilities Manager to join our team! The Manager, Facilities is responsible for planning, organizing, and overseeing maintenance operations within a healthcare environment. This role manages facilities, staff, and contracted services to ensure buildings, systems, and equipment are safe, compliant, and fully operational. The Manager oversees preventive and corrective maintenance programs, emergency response activities, regulatory compliance, and facility improvement projects while supporting a safe and reliable environment for patients, staff, and visitors. This position supports multiple facilities and clinic locations across the organization.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of CMS, Accreditation Standards (JCAHO, CIHQ, DNV), and Life Safety Code standards.
  • Knowledge of State Hospital licensing standards, hospital Environment of Care (EOC), safety, and utility management programs.
  • Advanced knowledge of building systems including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, fire/life safety, emergency power, and elevator systems.
  • Knowledge of applicable regulatory standards, including OSHA, and other facility-related compliance requirements.
  • Knowledge of preventive maintenance programs, work order systems, and facility maintenance management software.
  • Strong leadership, staff development, and team management skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively engage staff at all levels, including external vendors.
  • Strong organizational, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities, with the ability to manage multiple projects and competing priorities.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced healthcare environment while responding promptly to operational needs and emergencies.
  • Strong customer service focus with the ability to support a safe and functional healthcare environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office products, including Excel, Outlook, and Word.
  • Ability to work independently, drive results, and operate effectively without direct supervision.
  • Position may require availability outside normal business hours to support facility operations, emergencies, and maintenance activities.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Facilities Management or a related field; or Four (4) years of healthcare plant operations experience in lieu of education
  • Three (3) years of supervisory or lead experience in facilities maintenance, healthcare plant operations, or related technical environment
  • BLS certified or must complete certification within 90-days of hire

Responsibilities

  • Assumes responsibility for facility operations and physical plant management, including maintenance, repairs, and operational reliability of facility systems and equipment.
  • Oversees preventive and corrective maintenance programs for building infrastructure, utility systems, and facility equipment to ensure safe, reliable, and uninterrupted operations within a healthcare environment.
  • Manages work orders, preventive maintenance schedules, inspections, and maintenance documentation through the computerized maintenance management system.
  • Ensures fire/life safety systems, emergency generators, elevators, HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and other critical systems remain compliant and operational at all times.
  • Coordinates repairs, facility projects, renovations, construction of new facilities, and modernization of existing buildings while minimizing disruption to patient care and daily operations.
  • Supports regulatory compliance and readiness activities related to OSHA, Joint Commission, and other applicable healthcare standards.
  • Responds to facility emergencies, system failures, and urgent operational needs, including after-hours support as required.
  • Supervises facilities maintenance staff, including training, coaching, scheduling, workload distribution, and performance management.
  • Maintains staffing coverage to support routine operations and emergency response needs.
  • Monitors productivity, work quality, and service responsiveness to ensure departmental standards are met.
  • Manages vendor relationships, service agreements, and contractor performance to ensure quality, safety, and compliance expectations are achieved.
  • Assists with the coordination of departmental operations, projects, and facility initiatives to support organizational objectives.
  • Participates in regulatory inspections, committee meetings, task forces, and facility-related improvement initiatives.
  • Develops and maintains departmental policies, procedures, and operational documentation.
  • Performs other related tasks as needed.
