About The Position

The Facilities Manager supports the Operations Director by overseeing the maintenance team and the repair, maintenance, improvement, and general functionality of Rescue Mission Alliance facilities across multiple sites. This position is responsible for directing day-to-day maintenance operations, assigning and monitoring work orders, coordinating vendors, tracking facility-related documentation and expenses, and helping ensure repairs and projects are completed in a timely and effective manner. This position oversees facilities and maintenance operations across sites from San Fernando Valley to Ventura County and will occasionally travel to the Central Coast for larger projects. This is a full-time, non-exempt regular position that reports to the Operations Director. Compensation is commensurate with skills and experience; this position is overtime eligible and includes benefits.

Requirements

  • A solid Bible based Christian faith, compatible with RMA's statement of faith and an active member of an Evangelical church.
  • High school education or equivalent required
  • Valid California driver's license and insurable under RMA.
  • Ability and willingness to travel regularly between San Fernando Valley and Ventura County sites, and occasionally to the Central Coast for larger projects.
  • Strong knowledge of general building maintenance, repairs, and facility operations.
  • Ability to lead and oversee a maintenance team, delegate work, and follow through on assignments.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to effectively handle multiple tasks, sites, and projects at the same time.
  • Working knowledge of plumbing, electrical, drywall, painting, doors, locks, fixtures, and general repair coordination.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft 365, Asana, general office equipment, and the ability to learn multiple programs.
  • Excellent customer service, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • A teachable spirit and commitment to continuous learning and team participation.

Nice To Haves

  • Additional training or coursework in facilities, maintenance, construction, or a related field preferred.
  • Several years of progressively responsible maintenance, facilities, operations, or construction experience preferred.
  • Experience overseeing maintenance staff, vendors, work orders, and multi-site facility operations preferred.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee and lead the maintenance team in the completion of daily repair, maintenance, emergency response, and facility improvement work across RMA locations.
  • Assign, monitor, and follow up on work orders, repair requests, preventative maintenance, and larger facility projects to ensure timely completion.
  • Oversee organization maintenance operations including repairs related to plumbing, electrical, drywall, painting, fixtures, doors, locks, blinds, framing, roofing, flooring, and general building upkeep.
  • Ensure maintenance staff appropriately respond to routine, urgent, and emergency facility needs, including travel to Los Angeles area sites as needed and more frequently in emergency situations.
  • Oversee repairs such as snaking toilets, addressing clogged pipes, repairing kitchen lights, repairing or installing blinds, replacing toilet seats, repairing sink and shower valves, replacing faucets and showerheads, repairing bathroom doors, repairing and replacing light fixtures, fixing door hinges, replacing toilet flanges, replacing handles, repairing loose door closers, and replacing lock cylinders.
  • Oversee general maintenance and project work including tile work, moulding, boarding up windows, moving offices, painting, patching roofs, repairing roof areas, installing fixtures, building desks, building cribs, and other items that need to be assembled or built.
  • Oversee site-specific repair and maintenance needs for all RMA locations.
  • Manage work order systems in Asana, including adding repairs, monitoring progress, setting notifications, and helping ensure photos and videos are properly uploaded and documented.
  • Coordinate with outside vendors for plumbing and other contracted services and ensure vendors are scheduled, communicated with, and followed through to completion.
  • Coordinate with site leaders, vendors, and city contacts as needed to support repairs, maintenance projects, inspections, and facility needs.
  • Track receipts, maintenance-related purchases, and supporting documentation, and ensure required site forms are completed and note what expenses are for.
  • Oversee maintenance supplies, equipment, tools, and purchasing needs, including the proper use and management of company purchasing methods or assigned credit cards for maintenance staff.
  • Ensure repair and maintenance work includes electrical items such as switches, receptacles, light fixtures, carbon monoxide devices, vent covers, door stops, fans, data lines, urinal cartridges, washer supply line screens, banners, and similar facility-related items.
  • Support and oversee repairs and maintenance in offices, shelters, kitchens, program spaces, residential areas, and thrift store locations.
  • Routinely inform the Operations Director and site leadership of work order progress, maintenance timelines, emergency issues, vendor status, and larger project updates.
  • Create systems and workflows that improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the organization's maintenance and facility operations.
  • Attend and participate in team meetings.
  • Comply with and promote the RMA safety program.
  • Support a culture of stewardship, responsiveness, service, and teamwork.
  • Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.
