About The Position

COTTONWOOD HEIGHTS PARKS AND RECREATION SERVICE AREA is seeking a hands-on, problem-solving individual to join their team as a Part-Time Facilities Maintenance Worker. This role is responsible for maintaining all facilities and amenities to ensure a safe, clean, and comfortable atmosphere for patrons. The job involves visually inspecting equipment, machinery, and building components for proper operation and cleanliness. Key duties include monitoring and maintaining swimming pools and the ice rink, operating machinery, and performing routine maintenance and repairs. The position offers a flexible schedule and a FREE Family membership to the facility.

Requirements

  • High School graduate or equivalent.
  • Valid driver's license and must provide a copy of their Motor Vehicle Record prior to employment.
  • Approved Criminal Background Investigation check if over 18 years of age.
  • Practical experience or certification in at least three of the following areas: HVAC, swimming pool maintenance, ice rink maintenance, plumbing systems, electrical systems, rough carpentry, auto or small engine repair.
  • Understanding of related safety and OSHA requirements.
  • Basic computer skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Pool and Spa certification within one year of employment.

Responsibilities

  • Effectively and efficiently maintain all Service Area facilities and parks and their related equipment and machinery.
  • Ensure maintenance of the ice rink, including making and leveling ice with the Zamboni, edging corners, cutting and replacing Plexiglas and sideboards, keeping the Zamboni in working order, and maintaining ice compressors.
  • Perform proper maintenance, repair, and operation of equipment and machinery including the Zamboni, ice edger, scissor lift, auto-scrubbers, vacuums, vehicles, and all related hand tools and equipment.
  • Monitor air conditioning and heating systems, check and repair motors and fans, and maintain steam valves and dampers.
  • Perform preventive maintenance, plumbing, electrical, and all other "household" repairs throughout the Recreation Center.
  • Ensure maintenance of swimming pool areas and hot tub, keeping water chemistry in compliance with health codes, checking, cleaning, and adjusting filter systems, maintaining chemical feed systems, and keeping all pool hardware in safe, working order.
  • Answer and respond to calls on the radio during scheduled hours.
  • Keep all facility areas safe for public use.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relations with staff and management.
  • Attend and participate in meetings as required.
  • Complete all assigned paperwork, documentation, and work order requests.
  • Keep management informed of area activities and significant problems and concerns.
  • Assist Parks and Recreation Service Area personnel and outside service providers as needed.
  • Perform miscellaneous maintenance, cleaning, and other requested tasks as assigned.
  • Follow safety procedures.
  • Keep work areas clean and free of clutter.
  • Assist with snow removal.
  • Complete duties assigned by the Facility Maintenance Manager and/or designee.
  • Keep Facility Maintenance Manager well informed of area activities and of any significant problems.
