Under general supervision, perform a variety of semi-skilled tasks in the maintenance of City properties and facilities. This involves estimating the cost of repairs, selecting and requisitioning necessary equipment and related supplies. The role includes performing building or facility maintenance tasks such as replacing tile, fencing, doors and door frames, locks, shelves, ceilings, windows, plumbing fixtures, roofing, interior and exterior painting, and concrete and asphalt repair of aircraft parking ramps, taxiways, runways, public and non-public roadways, parking lots, curbs and sidewalks. Additionally, responsibilities include repairing and replacing electrical motors, security systems, performing preventative maintenance on HVAC systems, maintaining water and sump pumps, and repairing refrigerators, stoves, dishwashers, and small appliances. The position requires troubleshooting basic maintenance problems involving HVAC, electrical, structural, plumbing, and equipment repair or replacement. It also involves remodeling offices, tearing down old sections, and constructing new walls, as well as repairing fencing and security systems. The role requires overseeing all work in progress to ensure quality, timeliness, and safety, and inspecting completed work for quality and conformance to code. Maintaining cleanliness of tools, equipment, and work areas, and removing trash and debris are also key duties. Ensuring that maintenance and repair work complies with federal regulations is essential. The position may require performing duties of coworkers as necessary to ensure continuity of operations during absences, supporting and actively promoting the City’s safety programs, and interacting with supervisors, vendors, contractors, other departments, or the general public. This includes answering questions, resolving problems, and providing accurate information to inquiries. The role may be subject to emergency recall.
