About The Position

Perform a combination of semi-skilled and skilled maintenance work to maintain, repair, and improve transit-owned facilities, buildings, equipment, and grounds. Responsibilities include cleaning and maintaining the interior and exterior appearance of transit facilities, such as bus shelters, transit centers, park-and-ride lots, and surrounding grounds, while also performing routine maintenance, repairs, and replacement of facility equipment, devices, and machinery as needed. Ensure all transit facilities remain safe, clean, functional, and presentable by completing preventive maintenance, responding to repair needs, and supporting the overall operation and upkeep of transit infrastructure.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or G.E.D. equivalent and three years of experience performing facilities and/or grounds maintenance activities, including a basic understanding of mechanical and carpentry applications; or an equivalent combination of experience, education, and training.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • First Aid certification, or ability to obtain within 180-days of employment
  • Forklift Certification, or ability to obtain within 180-days of employment

Nice To Haves

  • Four years of experience in general building maintenance.
  • Completion of an apprentice program in electrical, plumbing, painting, or carpentry.

Responsibilities

  • Clean and maintain transit facilities, including restrooms, drinking fountains, glass doors, shelters, transit centers, and parking-and-ride lots.
  • Empty trash receptacles and safely dispose of biohazardous waste and sharps in accordance with agency policies and safety regulations.
  • Repair, clean, maintain, and replace bus stop amenities, including shelters, benches, trash receptacles, poles, signs, schedule holders, windows, and glass.
  • Install and update transit signage, schedules, rider alerts, route numbers, and related materials.
  • Perform routine building and grounds maintenance, including painting, vegetation control, snow and ice removal, and litter abatement.
  • Perform minor maintenance and repairs to building systems and fixtures, including basic plumbing, electrical, carpentry, lighting, and related maintenance tasks.
  • Replace light bulbs and perform minor repairs or replacement of lighting fixtures.
  • Conduct routine inspections of transit facilities, bus shelters, equipment, and surrounding grounds to identify maintenance needs and safety hazards; report deficiencies to supervisors.
  • Assist with office moves by transporting, assembling, installing, and arranging furniture and equipment.
  • Operate and maintain agency vehicles, tools, and equipment in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Transport tools, materials, parts, and supplies to and from work sites.
  • Complete work orders and maintain accurate maintenance and repair records.
  • Assist Specialists with more Advanced diagnostics repairs.
  • Request materials, tools, and supplies needed to complete assigned work.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area and shop.
  • Follow all applicable safety procedures, hazardous waste handling requirements, and federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Demonstrate regular, reliability, and punctual attendance.
  • Parking lot painting and repairs
  • Work independently on routine and moderately complex maintenance assignments.
  • Perform skilled repairs across multiple trades.
  • Identify maintenance issues and recommend solutions.
  • Train or assist less experienced employees in specific tasks.
  • Other duties as assigned.
