About The Position

The Facilities Maintenance Technician assists with the operations of City-owned buildings, executing maintenance requests from internal and external customers and performing planned maintenance on equipment including but not limited to Plumbing, HVAC, and Electrical. This position also assists the Public Works team on projects.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED
  • Two (2) years of experience in a related field.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid Arizona driver’s license or obtain one within thirty (30) days of hire, unless a qualifying military exception applies.
  • Clean driving record.
  • Working knowledge of computer applications.
  • Knowledge of HVAC.
  • Knowledge of Plumbing.
  • Knowledge of Mechanical.
  • Knowledge of Electrical.
  • Knowledge of Carpentry.
  • High ethical standards
  • Active participation in teamwork
  • Strong safety principles and awareness
  • Operation of a personal computer including job-related software applications that apply to the work performed
  • Initiative and independent judgment within the limits of policies, standards, and precedents
  • Analysis and judgment in accomplishing diversified duties
  • Ability to read manuals, reports, graphical information, and engineering guidelines
  • Perform general math calculations such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, percentages, formulas, factors, and decimals
  • Work patiently and tactfully with a diverse customer environment
  • Provide solutions to allow for seamless operation of the work environment
  • Exerting up to 75 lbs. of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 lbs. of force frequently, and/or up to 20 lbs. of force constantly to move objects.

Responsibilities

  • Completion of work orders assigned.
  • Planned maintenance on systems and equipment throughout the city buildings.
  • Moving of furniture and offices.
  • Painting, plastering and general drywall repairs.
  • Installation of equipment including but not limited to signage, cubicles, HVAC, plumbing, etc.
  • General construction knowledge and applications.
  • Strong ability to read and interpret blueprints and drawings.
  • Working knowledge of building code and its applications.
  • Understanding internal and external (OSHA) safety policies.
  • Utilize computer-based programs and software to assist with tracking of work and communicate with supervisor.
  • Other duties as assigned.
