The Facilities Maintenance Technician is responsible for performing various facility and grounds maintenance functions. This includes general building repairs, electrical repairs and modifications, office and furniture repairs and rearrangement, building painting, equipment installation and repair, exterior grounds maintenance, recycling and hazardous waste disposal, as well as performing carpentry, plumbing, and welding functions as needed. The role also involves supporting the 5S Housekeeping program, continuous improvement initiatives, and assisting with the creation and adherence to PM schedules. The technician will take the lead on tasks when working with Assistant Maintenance Technicians and help mentor or train them. Maintaining all equipment properly to prevent hazards and ensure correct operation, repairing and/or replacing broken equipment to minimize production downtime, and ordering shop equipment and supplies in a timely manner are also key responsibilities. The technician must also maintain all tools and equipment safely and securely, ensure only authorized personnel use maintenance shop equipment, and keep the maintenance area clean, tidy, and organized. Effective communication with vendors on-site and supporting operations and other departments to meet company objectives are also required.
