Facilities Maintenance Technician II- Cranes
About The Position
Manufacturing Maintenance Solutions (MMS) is seeking a dependable Maintenance Technician to support Caterpillar facilities in East Peoria, Illinois. This role focuses on preventive maintenance, inspection, troubleshooting, and repair of overhead cranes, hoists, lifting devices, overhead doors, dock equipment, and industrial facility systems. It is not a crane operator position. The technician helps ensure safe, efficient plant operations and supports emergency repairs to minimize downtime. The position is full-time on the third shift, Sunday through Thursday, from 10:00 PM to 6:30 AM. Pay is $20–$26 per hour, depending on experience, plus a shift differential. Overtime is available. Work may involve heights, lifts, and access equipment in an industrial environment.
Requirements
- Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
- Basic electrical knowledge and ability to work with industrial electrical systems.
- Excellent attendance and reliability.
- Ability to work independently on third shift.
- Comfort working at heights and in industrial environments.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain Caterpillar site access.
Nice To Haves
- Experience performing preventive maintenance on overhead cranes and hoists.
- Industrial maintenance experience.
- Knowledge of crane components, controls, drives, motors, and brakes.
- Experience troubleshooting electrical and mechanical systems.
- Experience maintaining overhead doors and loading dock equipment.
- Familiarity with lockout/tagout procedures.
- Technical training or maintenance certification.
Responsibilities
- Perform preventive maintenance on overhead cranes and hoists.
- Inspect and service lifting devices and material handling equipment.
- Troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues on cranes and related equipment.
- Maintain and repair overhead doors and dock equipment.
- Replace motors, controls, switches, relays, contactors, sensors, and other components.
- Conduct safety inspections and document findings.
- Work at heights using lifts and access equipment when required.
- Read basic electrical schematics and troubleshoot circuits.
- Complete work orders and document maintenance activities.
- Support emergency repairs to minimize downtime.
- Follow Caterpillar and MMS safety procedures.
