About The Position

The City of Bend is accepting applications for one (1) temporary, full-time Facilities Maintenance Technician I in the Facilities Division of the Real Estate, Facilities and Housing Department. This is an hourly, non-exempt (overtime eligible) position represented by the City of Bend Employee Association (COBEA). The City may use this job posting to create an eligibility list for future hiring purposes. The Facilities Maintenance Technician I assists in the day-to-day repairs and maintenance of multiple City facilities and grounds. Job duties include, but are not limited to, office relocations, all aspects of building remodeling construction including basic plumbing, mechanical, and carpentry. Work is performed individually and as part of a team. This role provides the opportunity to work at multiple City campuses, interact with a wide variety of City staff, and play an important role as a member of the Facilities Maintenance Tech Team. This is an entry level position in the Facilities Maintenance Technician series and works under the supervision of the Facilities Lead and/or Facilities Services Supervisor.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent AND One year of experience in building construction, maintenance, and woodworking OR An equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job.
  • Oregon Driver's License
  • Ability to complete and pass CJIS certification within 3 months of date of hire

Responsibilities

  • Routine building/facilities maintenance activities for multiple facilities.
  • Basic plumbing maintenance and repair.
  • Basic carpentry duties; install shelves, doors and windows, bulletin boards and signs, tapes, muds and paints damaged interior and exterior walls.
  • Builds, maintains and repairs office furniture and equipment; installs and moves furniture.
  • Assists in maintaining appropriate level of inventory and supplies required to complete maintenance and repair tasks.
  • Maintains records on all maintenance and repair activities
  • Assists Facilities Technician II and/or lead in more complex maintenance and repair tasks.
  • Comply with safety requirements of the position and actively promotes safe work practices.
