About The Position

Curtis Lumber is seeking experienced Facilities Maintenance Technicians for its Ballston Spa location. This role involves performing routine maintenance tasks for company buildings across various fields such as electrical, HVAC, plumbing, and carpentry. The technician will also be responsible for general cleaning and other assigned duties. Requirements

  • Thorough knowledge of proper safety techniques and procedures while using chemicals, power tools, hand tools and equipment; knowledge of proper lifting techniques.
  • Ability to operate equipment and tools.
  • Understanding of building codes.
  • Knowledge of occupational hazards and standard safety practices and Safety Data Sheets.
  • Knowledge of roofing and siding installation.
  • Ability to understand and follow written and oral directions.
  • Ability to perform work independently or on a team.
  • Must be comfortable working on roofs and elevated lift equipment.
  • Must be comfortable traveling with a company vehicle to any and all Curtis Lumber facilities.

Responsibilities

  • Identify and assist with electrical, carpentry, plumbing, and repair work.
  • Inspect buildings, electrical systems, grounds, and equipment to ensure safe, well-maintained conditions, identify hazards, defects, and the need for adjustment or repair.
  • Identify and perform basic service and repair on plumbing fixtures, open clogged lines, and drains.
  • Perform minor troubleshooting and repairs; replace light bulbs, ballasts, and fuses.
  • Perform a variety of locksmith duties; install, repair, and replace locks on doors.
  • Paint, remodel, and refurbish areas as needed.
  • Assist in the maintenance of the Company owned railroad tracks.
  • Assist with snow removal.
  • Assist with preventive maintenance and troubleshooting on HVAC system, changing filters, blower motors, and bearings.
  • Inspect, service and maintain operational functionality of automatic doors.
  • Complete maintenance work orders as assigned and in a timely manner.
  • Assist with moving loading, unloading, and storing supplies, furniture, and equipment.
