About The Position

The City of Clayton is seeking an experienced Facilities Maintenance Supervisor to lead the maintenance team responsible for keeping City of Clayton facilities safe, attractive, and operating efficiently. This hands-on leadership position combines technical work, project coordination, and employee supervision while offering excellent benefits, a generous pension, stable employment, and a predictable schedule. No two days are exactly alike-you may troubleshoot an HVAC issue in the morning, coordinate a contractor in the afternoon, and help prepare a facility for a community event before heading home.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Five years of facility maintenance experience, including one year in a lead or supervisory role.
  • Experience in at least two building trades such as electrical, plumbing, HVAC, or carpentry.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals.
  • Valid driver's license.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, schedule, and oversee maintenance staff and contractors.
  • Maintain and repair the buildings that keep City services running.
  • Troubleshoot and complete a variety of electrical, plumbing, HVAC, carpentry, and general maintenance projects.
  • Conduct routine facility inspections and ensure compliance with safety standards.
  • Manage work orders and prioritize maintenance activities using tracking systems.
  • Oversee preventive maintenance programs for equipment and building systems.
  • Maintain inventory of tools, equipment, and supplies.
  • Respond to facility emergencies, including occasional after-hours needs.
