Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED and four plus years of demonstrated successful experience in two or more areas.
  • Ability to pass State and/or Federal Background Checks as determined by position (prior to hire date)
  • Valid Washington State Driver’s License
  • Ability to obtain proof of insurability for operating an automobile.
  • First Aide/CPR certification (within 90 days of employment)
  • Tuberculosis (TB) Testing (upon employment and before contact with children, testing done before hire will not be recognized)
  • Current Immunizations per Washington Administrative Code (can be obtained upon hire)
  • Position requires intermittent sitting, standing, walking, twisting, and bending
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds
  • Simple grasping and hand manipulation required as well as reaching above and below shoulder level
  • Cognitive ability to recognize and address safety concerns
  • Must be able to work outside in a variety of weather conditions
  • Cognitive ability to discern accuracy and apply to work as necessary.
  • Physical and cognitive ability to operate a motor vehicle.
  • May be required to enter housing units which contain various conditions up to and including potential physical and chemical hazards.
  • Utilizes ladders, scaffolding and powered lifts to reach heights.
  • May be required to work all shifts and serve in an on call capacity.

  • Demonstrated successful experience in preparing and processing documentation following relevant process and guidelines (such purchase requests, requests for payment, etc.)

Responsibilities

  • Reports to and schedules work assignments with Facilities Maintenance Manager.
  • Demonstrates success in working both independently and under direction.
  • Assists in construction/building and remodeling duties (Builds/repairs decking, stairs, roofing, interior and exterior walls, sub-flooring, handrails, and handicapped or AHA required projects) where necessary.
  • Has working knowledge of all types of flooring; removal, repair and replacement skills.
  • Assist in plumbing and electrical repairs and installation for entire agency.
  • Assist HVAC repairs and maintenance when needed or provides oversight of sub-contractor hired to perform such duties as requested by Facilities Maintenance Manager.
  • Installs, repairs and maintains concrete such as sidewalks, curbs, and slabs where necessary.
  • Repairs and/or installs playground equipment or provides oversight of sub-contractor hired to perform such duties as requested by Facilities Maintenance Manager.
  • Assist in maintenance/repair duties at all agency properties and facilities.
  • Performs pick-up/delivery and is responsible for program mail-run and supplies, loads/unloads materials, supplies and equipment as needed.
  • Performs janitorial duties as needed.
  • Cleans housing units when vacated.
  • Maintains program vehicles as needed.
  • Occasionally works on building maintenance/repair projects with Kitsap Child Care, Human Services maintenance staff and KCR Administration.
  • Assist in the maintenance of disaster equipment and materials for entire program.
  • Fills in for Facilities Maintenance Manager in their absence.
  • Accepts other job-related duties as assigned.
  • Operates a wide variety of handheld power and manual tools both indoors and outside.
  • Move furniture, donations, appliances and heavy items or equipment.
  • Basic groundskeeping duties such as property clean up and beautification, refuse removal, and basic landscaping.
