About The Position

The Facilities Maintenance Specialist is responsible for repairing and maintaining Town buildings and facilities, and conducting minor construction and similar work for the Department of Public Services. This role involves a variety of tasks including troubleshooting maintenance problems, ordering supplies, performing manual labor, and interacting with the public. The specialist may also be required to obtain professional certifications and assume the duties of the Foreman in their absence.

Requirements

High school diploma
Three (3) years prior work experience
Valid South Carolina Driver’s License
Or any equivalent combination of education, training and experience

Responsibilities

Confers with Foremen regarding the job requirements and scheduling, reviews job requirements; estimated completion time and related costs
Inspects and maintains all municipal buildings and related grounds.
Troubleshoots maintenance problems involving electrical, structural, plumbing, and equipment repair or replacement.
Inspects work areas to determine the type of work required and materials and equipment to be used; Establishes or adjusts work procedures to meet schedules.
Orders supplies as necessary in accordance with department procedures
Advises the Foreman on all pertinent issues as necessary
Applies applicable safety practices in procedures to ensure safe operation of vehicles and equipment
Ensures that all equipment is maintained in a satisfactory condition.
Receives and responds to service requests and work orders
Conducts data entry and utilizes department approved software in order track service requests and work orders
Performs manual labor and operates departmental equipment as necessary
Executes emergency work procedures as necessary in accordance with department guidelines.
Interacts with the public on a daily basis
May assume the duties and responsibilities of the Forman in his absence
May be required to obtain and maintain professional certifications
Performs other duties as required
