Position Summary: The Facilities Maintenance Specialist will act as a Building Automation System (BAS) Mechanical Controls Specialist and is responsible for ensuring the reliable operation, maintenance, and optimization of the site's Building Automation System and associated mechanical control systems. This role supports GMP-compliant facility operations by monitoring system performance, troubleshooting controls issues, coordinating vendor activities, and maintaining accurate automation system documentation.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent and relevant formal academic / vocational qualification
  • Previous experience that provides the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the job (comparable to 2+ years). In some cases, an equivalency, consisting of a combination of appropriate education, training and/or directly related experience, will be considered sufficient for an individual to meet the requirements of the role.
  • Proven ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and balance priorities
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Strong computer skills in Microsoft Office Suite and other platforms
  • Effective oral and written communication skills
  • Effective negotiation skills
  • Basic understanding of building systems (mechanical, electrical, security, etc.)
  • Knowledge of electrical, plumbing, mechanical and/or light general construction may be required
  • Ability to effectively interact with outside vendors and internal customers
  • Positive attitude and ability to work well with others
  • Comfort with ambiguity and effectiveness during periods of uncertainty and change
  • May require knowledge and understanding of computerized maintenance and work order systems
  • May require a strong understanding of security systems

Responsibilities

  • Administer and maintain the Building Automation System (BAS) and associated mechanical control systems supporting site operations.
  • Monitor building systems performance, including HVAC, environmental controls, alarms, and trending data, to ensure reliable and compliant operation.
  • Investigate, troubleshoot, and resolve BAS and controls-related issues, coordinating with Facilities, Engineering, vendors, and service providers as required.
  • Configure, modify, and maintain control system graphics, trends, alarms, schedules, and user access in accordance with site requirements.
  • Support preventive maintenance and calibration activities for BAS hardware, sensors, controllers, and associated field devices.
  • Perform troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair of HVAC, building automation, and associated facility control systems.
  • Respond to equipment failures, alarms, and emergency service requests to restore critical facility operations, after business hours as required.
  • Support maintenance activities for facility infrastructure and utility systems, coordinating with internal teams and vendors as required.
  • Identify and implement BAS system improvements that enhance equipment reliability, environmental performance, and operational efficiency.
  • Maintain accurate system documentation, control narratives, drawings, and change records in accordance with site procedures.
  • Support investigations, audits, commissioning activities, and change control processes involving facility automation and environmental control systems.
  • Ensure all activities are performed in compliance with GMP, EHS, and company policies and procedures.
  • Daily operational support and other duties as needed or assigned.
