About The Position

Perfetti Van Melle, a leading global manufacturer of confectionery and chewing gum, is seeking an enthusiastic Facilities Operator Maintenance Mechanic for their 2nd shift AWS team. This role involves performing maintenance and repairs on various equipment and facilities, including plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and HVAC systems. The mechanic will collaborate with the Facilities Manager, Lead, and other team members, adhering to Integrated Lean 6 Sigma (IL6S) principles for maintenance and operational excellence. The position requires a strong mechanical aptitude, the ability to perform advanced repairs, and a commitment to maintaining a safe and compliant work environment.

Requirements

  • 3 years of experience in a Maintenance Role or equally demonstrated mechanical/electrical skills.
  • Capability to read written instructions, including the use of CMMS (SAP & UpKeep).
  • Computer proficiency (MS Office including Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and experience in ERP systems.
  • Excellent communication skills (Verbal and Written).
  • Analytical & Problem-solving skills.
  • Strong collaboration and relationship management skills.
  • Capability to lead and be coached using next level work processes and the PDCA approach.
  • Must be available to work any shift and must be able to work weekends.
  • Must have strong writing, verbal, and interpersonal skills.
  • Communicates with all levels of the organization.
  • Must be a proven leader with a track record of developing skills of individuals and nurturing cooperation within teams.
  • Must be a self-starter and able to manage multiple critical activities simultaneously.
  • May be required to handle caustic chemicals with proper PPE.
  • May have to work outside on occasion in hot summer and cold winter to support factory emergencies.

Responsibilities

  • Perform maintenance and repairs for assigned equipment and facilities, including plumbing, electrical, basic carpentry, heating and cooling, and other building systems.
  • Co-ordinate the execution of Building Maintenance program, Facilities maintenance program, and assist in Processing and Packaging maintenance programs.
  • Utilize IL6S principles for preventive/predictive maintenance, condition-based monitoring, visual controls, tools management, loss elimination, lubrication management, and equipment calibration.
  • Role model values and principles through coaching and building capability of operating teams on routine maintenance, equipment breakdown, and CIL techniques.
  • Interface with internal and external stakeholders to develop and maintain effective relationships and align priorities with company objectives.
  • Perform advanced mechanical repairs, including bearing and shaft removal/installation, and machine assembly/disassembly.
  • Perform advanced repairs to plumbing, heating and cooling systems, and facility-related mechanical repairs.
  • Operate machine tools including lathe, mill, welder, grinder, saws, and press.
  • Maintain a safe and clean work environment following all OSHA, GMP, and FDA guidelines.
