About The Position

This is an unclassified part-time position that will work no more than 29 hours per week. It requires non-standard or rotating shift work, subject to days, nights, weekends, holidays, and call back. The Facilities Inspector helps ensure City-owned buildings and facilities remain safe, functional, and well maintained through inspections, maintenance planning, contractor oversight, and facility improvement activities. This position evaluates facility conditions, recommends corrective actions, supports preventive maintenance and capital projects, and may supervise assigned personnel.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Considerable experience in facility maintenance, construction inspection, building systems, construction trades, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Valid driver's license of the appropriate class.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect City buildings, facilities, and building systems, including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, roofing, flooring, doors, and parking areas, to identify maintenance needs and safety hazards.
  • Document inspection findings through reports, photographs, measurements, and work orders.
  • Prioritize repairs, conduct follow-up inspections, and verify completed work.
  • Monitor contractors and vendors for compliance with City standards, plans, specifications, and contracts.
  • Review project plans, estimates, and technical documentation to support maintenance and capital improvement projects.
  • Assist with preventive maintenance, facility condition assessments, and long-term asset management planning.
  • Maintain inspection records, equipment documentation, warranties, and project files.
  • Coordinate with City departments, contractors, and vendors to support facility operations and emergency response.
