As part of the machine/building maintenance team, the person in this position leads highly complex repairs, modifications and preventative maintenance on buildings, facilities, equipment, fixtures and systems. This role diagnoses, troubleshoots, and repairs complex HVAC systems and equipment. It also performs preventive and predictive maintenance on commercial and industrial HVAC systems, and installs, tests, and commissions various HVAC equipment. The technician will read and interpret blueprints, schematics, wiring diagrams, and control sequences, and troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, and control-related issues. Working with Building Automation Systems (BAS) and energy management systems is also a key part of this role. Additionally, the technician will perform refrigerant recovery and charging in compliance with EPA regulations, monitor system performance, and recommend operational improvements. Coordination of major repairs and equipment replacements with contractors and vendors, ensuring compliance with safety standards, and accurate completion of work orders and logs are also responsibilities. Participation in emergency response and after-hours support, as well as assisting with project planning and system upgrades, may be required.
