Check out career opportunities at Viasat today. We seek a Facilities HVAC Maintenance Mechanic to provide support for our Tempe, AZ campus and additional offsite locations. This role reports to the Tempe Facilities Manager. You will contribute to the Facilities group dedicated to maintaining all systems, equipment, and assets in effective working condition. This supports the highest level of customer happiness. You will arrange daily support for the Maintenance team, making sure all scheduled and unexpected maintenance and repairs are communicated and carried out without delay. Your capacity to multitask successfully will allow you to coordinate subcontractor activities and services alongside internal maintenance duties. Clear communication is important as you assist outside contractors, troubleshoot electrical and mechanical equipment issues, and support plumbing assignments throughout the campus. This practical role guarantees a varied workday.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of cleanroom experience supporting facilities operations and maintenance. This includes performing general repair work and working on related trades like HVAC, Electrical, and Plumbing. Strong troubleshooting skills are required.
  • HVAC or Electrical certifications are a plus.
  • Knowledge of Trane SC building automation systems.
  • Experience using a computer-based work order management system.
  • Experience handling general facilities equipment and working with electrical, mechanical, and plumbing tools.
  • Ability to perform “On-Call” responsibilities for after hours and weekend coverage.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Proven talent for offering outstanding assistance to customers.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel) is a must.
  • Ability to travel up to 10%.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent experience.
  • Driver’s License.
  • US Citizenship is required

  • Lab / Clean room experience preferred.
  • Exceptional ability to provide outstanding customer service under pressure.
  • Previous HVAC / Electrical facilities work.

Responsibilities

  • Carry out preventive maintenance and repairs on mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire protection, and other building systems and equipment (including fan coil units, package chillers, material handling equipment, hydraulic equipment, electrical equipment, UPS, etc.) following industry standards and manufacturer instructions.
  • Efficiently operate a Building Automation System (BAS) i.e., Trane SC, Delta & A.L.C. – Automated Logic Controls.
  • Manage work orders through a Computer Maintenance Management System (CMMS software).
  • Read and understand technical drawings (i.e., blueprints, user manuals, electronic/mechanical schematics) to repair and maintain equipment.
  • Operate material handling machinery and power tools as needed to complete tasks.
  • Coordinate, supervise and/or escort subcontractors on an as-needed basis.
  • Installation and/or relocation of modular furniture and lab benches.
  • Provide hands-on support to HVAC mechanics and/or Electricians.
  • Collaborate within a group setting and be prepared to take on extra or new duties promptly.
