About The Position

Employees in this classification perform manual work to maintain the cleanliness, orderliness, appearance, and sanitation of University campus grounds, roads, walks, and buildings. This is an essential position; incumbents are expected to report to work on snow or storm days and on other days when campus is closed.

The role includes grounds maintenance, assistance with special events and moving, and other related duties as assigned. The position is located in Durham. The starting pay rate is $20.00 per hour; the stated compensation pay range is $13.41–$22.02.

Requirements

• Experience operating grounds-related equipment.
• Valid commercial operator's license.

Responsibilities

• Perform grounds maintenance, including mowing, weed removal, tree trimming, litter pickup, shoveling, snow blowing, and snow removal.
• Operate and maintain a variety of vehicles, equipment, and tools.
• Assist with special events and moving.
• Perform related duties as assigned.
• Report to work on snow or storm days and on other days when campus is closed.
