About The Position

QTS' summer internship program will provide you first-hand experience into the fast-paced world of the data center industry by providing weekly lunch and learns, a comprehensive orientation program, and site-based activities, socials, and volunteering events. Every intern will be assigned initiatives tied to real QTS objectives helping with anything pertaining to the whole life-cycle of a data center build and/or company operations. The Facilities Operations and Commissioning Intern will be fully immersed in the project life-cycle of commissioning/de-commissioning events at an active Data Center.

Requirements

  • Actively pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Construction Engineering, Civil Engineering, Facilities Management, or similar field
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, especially PowerPoint for presentations and Excel for data analysis and budgeting.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
  • Must be a US Citizen

Nice To Haves

  • Current full-time enrollment in one of QTS’s partner institutions (listed below) or a Blackstone Launchpad affiliate school: Auburn University Kansas State University Georgia State University Southern Adventist University Texas A&M University University of Kansas
  • Previous internship or co-op experience in construction, finance, technology, data center, facilities engineering, or related industries.
  • Involvement in community activities outside of schoolwork (athletics, clubs, volunteering, part-time employment).

Responsibilities

  • Assist with engineering aspects of data center site startup or commissioning projects.
  • Participate in the design, configuration, and commissioning of data center facilities.
  • Support engineering improvements and automation projects using tools like Revit, CAD, and DCIM software.
  • Assist in the development of project plans and timelines for site startup and commissioning activities.
  • Monitor and report on project progress, identifying any issues or delays.
  • Help develop and implement automation solutions to enhance data center operations.
  • Conduct site inspections and ensure compliance with engineering standards and regulations.
  • Assist in the preparation of technical documentation and reports for engineering projects.
