About The Position

We are looking for a Facilities Engineer to join our elite team in the Engineering department. In this role, you will assist in the maintenance, repair, refurbishment, renovation, remodeling, and general upkeep of the hotel to keep the facility functional and attractive. You will work under the general supervision of the Director of Engineering and collaborate with teammates, managers, and guests to ensure a memorable guest experience. This position is crucial in maintaining everything from guest rooms to meeting rooms, restaurants, and offices, ensuring they are in good working order.

Requirements

  • Basic working knowledge in general plumbing, refrigeration, air conditioning, electrical systems, boilers, bathroom fixtures and tiling, painting (prep to finish), basic carpentry, and grounds keeping.
  • Vision to read written communication, LED read-outs, meters, and computer screens.
  • Finger, hand, and upper body dexterity to pull levers, rotate knobs, work with arms raised above head, and handle/assemble small parts using basic hand and power tools.
  • Ability to understand and follow verbal/written instructions.
  • Ability to communicate both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to utilize analytical thought processes.
  • Ability to understand verbal/written technical and mechanical instruction.
  • Must be highly organized.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and courteously with employees, guests, and contractors in writing, via telephone, and in person.
  • Upper body strength to lift 75lbs throughout an 8-hour shift.
  • Leg strength and ability to crawl into and through small spaces, climb ladders, and support/carry loads of 75lbs.
  • Current, legal, and unrestricted ability to work in the United States.
  • Previous experience working in a hotel engineering or maintenance role.
  • Ability to compute accurate mathematical calculations.
  • Ability to clearly and pleasantly communicate in English with guests, management/co-workers, both in person, on the telephone, and through email.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate or Technical degree/Trade certification preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Completes assigned work orders for general repair within the assigned time frame to ensure operational efficiency, safety, and proper functioning of the hotel's equipment.
  • Performs systematic checks and inspections to aid in the upkeep of the hotel and supports the proactive maintenance program to prevent malfunctions and depreciation.
  • Responds immediately and courteously to guest needs to repair and/or resolve room maintenance requests and problems.
  • Maintains tools, workspaces, and equipment in safe, secure, and good condition to reduce accidents and prolong their use.
  • Repairs and/or changes room locks for the security of the hotel and guests.
  • Adjusts and repairs electronic problems on hotel equipment, including televisions, alarm clocks, HVAC units, etc.
  • Assists the department in maintaining safety equipment and emergency procedures for the safety of all guests and teammates.
  • Utilizes computer system knowledge to complete orders in a tracking system like ALICE or HOTSOS.
  • Maintains a friendly, cheerful, and courteous manner at all times.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned, requested, or deemed necessary by management.
