About The Position

FirstLight is seeking a Colocation Facilities engineer to oversee new common system and infrastructure of installation / capacity augment projects. The candidate would be responsible for monthly common system capacity reporting for assigned facilities and day to day maintenance and PMs of assigned FirstLight facilities. This role has combined responsibility for data center process and compliance activities. The expectation is that the Data Center/Facilities engineer would oversee common systems, operations and maintenance of FirstLight facilities. They will coordinate projects with the Facilities Director, department managers and project managers. The duties listed require strict adherence to budgets and formal bid process.

Requirements

  • Proficiency with SP Marketplace essential
  • Basic understanding of test equipment i.e., Power/grounding / HVAC / UPS, all related / required testing equipment to conduct and troubleshoot the FirstLight infrastructure
  • Ability to read and understand CLR’s, Floor plan diagrams and one line power diagrams
  • Knowledge of inventory control protocols
  • Experience in troubleshooting process [i.e. point to point analysis]
  • Knowledge of AC/DC power architecture and operational fundamentals
  • Familiarity with industry standard installation practices [lacing and sewing, planning for network installations, ordering and gathering equipment, verifying and testing circuits, equipments and alarms]

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for maintenance and installation activities on major network infrastructure components
  • Coordination and oversight of purchasing, installation, repair, and routine maintenance for each assigned facilities asset
  • Coordination of internal resources, contractors/vendors for existing facilities and new construction, cabinet installations and service cross connections
  • Monthly common system capacity reporting for assigned facilities
  • SP Marketplace documentation of All Facilities / assets assigned
  • Works with Network Design Engineering to facilitate clean SOW packages, Understands power and grounding, HVAC / UPS architecture fundamentals
  • Network Facilities Technician must understand access procedures for all relevant sites under their area of operation
  • Preventative maintenance / reporting for infrastructure components i.e., HVAC, Emergency Generators, transfer switching, remote gen set operation, maintenance, and interface connections
  • Network Facilities Engineer has oversight of contract labor for end-to-end installation, test, turn-up, and maintenance of all infrastructure and common systems related projects
  • Be available as Essential Personnel in emergency scenarios
  • When necessary, assist Field Operations installation tasks
  • Completes special projects and other duties as assigned
  • Participate in On-Call Rotation
