About The Position

Hexcel is seeking a Facilities Engineer for its Kent, WA, USA location. This role is crucial for supporting site-wide facilities engineering at a major manufacturing plant. The successful candidate will manage external engineering resources, lead design reviews, prepare bid packages, oversee projects, and ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations. Hexcel is an industry leader in the manufacturing of advanced lightweight composite materials, including carbon fiber, woven reinforcements, resins, prepregs, honeycombs and engineered core and composite structures.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university with coursework in engineering, required.
  • Minimum three years engineering experience in a manufacturing environment, facilities engineering preferred.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Project, PowerPoint, Outlook) and AutoCAD or equivalent software.
  • Proven project management skills in a manufacturing (CAPEX 360 preferred) setting.
  • Physically able to move around the production facility, standing and/or sitting for long periods of time.
  • Able to lift materials up to 35 pounds on occasion.
  • Possesses manual dexterity to operate tools and equipment.
  • Eligible candidates must be a: U.S. citizen, U.S. national, person lawfully admitted for permanent residence, temporary resident under sections 210(a) or 245(A) of the Immigration and Nationality Act, person admitted in refugee status, or person granted asylum.

Nice To Haves

  • A combination of education and experience may be considered.
  • Familiarity with computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) software and multi-axis machining centers a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical/engineering support of all operational and administrative departments, site maintenance and facilities operations to achieve optimal efficiency in manufacturing and site operations respectively.
  • Ensure the expedient repair of facility-wide failures, and the effective maintenance of electrical, chiller, hot oil, oxidizer, and compressed air equipment to prevent failure and minimize down time.
  • Research and develop planned enhancements for future mechanical acquisitions and stay current with new technologies and procedures.
  • Provide overall project management of new installations and upgrades of existing systems.
  • Arrange contract services for internal maintenance of equipment, coordinate scheduling and manage expenditures of those contracts or agreements.
  • Provide basic internal engineering for limited electrical/hydraulic/pneumatic applications.
  • Participate in original design and upgrades of control systems and operating process equipment such as pumps, HVAC, air compressors, cooling towers, emissions control equipment, etc.
  • Provide engineering and technical expertise to support loss prevention recommendations sited throughout facilities.
  • Participate in original design and upgrades of alarm and security systems.
  • Coordinate plant security operations.
  • Model safe working habits and champion safety in the workplace by supporting and actively engaging in the safety and environmental culture at Hexcel.
