Requirements

Ability to read blueprints and follow a plan layout to install electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures based on the job specifications and codes.
Ability to make sketches or blueprints to determine the location of wiring and equipment and to ensure conformance to building and safety codes and in accordance with the plan.
Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance.
Knowledge of materials, methods, and the tools involved in construction and repair of buildings and other structures.
Knowledge of math, arithmetic, algebra, geometry, and other applications.
Knowledge base relevant equipment, policies, procedures, and strategies to promote effective local, state, or national security operations for the protection of people, data, and property, including public safety.
Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions and sketches.
Ability to express ideas effectively orally and in writing.
Graduation from high school, or equivalent.
Must maintain current Electrician’s license to meet governmental regulations.
Progressively more responsible work experience or any equivalent combination of training and experience.

Responsibilities

Assists in performing and interpreting power calculations, power factor, insulation tests and positive relay tests as required.
Maintains, troubleshoots and repairs all power generation and distribution equipment.
Studies and understands electrical schematics.
Assembles, installs, tests, and maintains electrical or electronic wiring, equipment, appliances, apparatus, and fixtures, using hand tools and power tools.
Diagnoses malfunctioning systems and components.
Connects wires to circuit breakers, transformers, or other components.
Inspects electrical systems, equipment, and components to identify hazards, defects, and the need for adjustment or repair, and to ensure compliance with codes.
Advises management on whether continued operation of equipment could be hazardous.
Tests electrical systems and continuity of circuits in electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures, using testing devices such as ohmmeters, voltmeters, and oscilloscopes, to ensure compatibility and safety of system.
Ensures that work is performed in accordance with relevant codes.
