Facilities Electrician
About The Position
Castelion is hiring a Facilities Electrician to install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair electrical systems and components across its facility. The role works with 120/208/480V distribution, motor controls, panels, disconnects, lighting, step-down transformers, and equipment power wiring. It also supports facility operations, expansions, capital improvements, and infrastructure upgrades, and responds to critical system issues. The position includes on-call work and other responsibilities assigned by management. The electrician must follow electrical and mechanical lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures, Arc Flash safety protocols, and applicable OSHA, NFPA, NEC, and local building codes. The role requires a high school diploma or equivalent and five years of experience in electrical systems. Candidates must own basic tools and hold an active California driver’s license. Castelion notes that access to classified information or U.S. Government sites may require a security clearance or other government authorization if applicable. The position also requires access to export-controlled information, subject to applicable U.S. export-control requirements.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Five years of experience in electrical systems.
- Must own basic tools.
- Active California driver’s license.
Nice To Haves
- Licensed Journeyman Electrician with at least five years of experience; six or more years preferred, or ten years of equivalent experience.
- Hands-on experience in an industrial or manufacturing setting; aerospace or defense experience preferred, with general industrial experience acceptable.
- Expertise in electrical power distribution, transformer installation, and industrial wiring.
- Comfort with 120–480V systems, motor controls, VFDs, and basic panel and control troubleshooting.
- Ability to read electrical schematics, panel drawings, and equipment manuals.
- Ability to plan, execute, and complete electrical projects independently.
- Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills with a focus on root cause resolution.
- Working knowledge of LOTO and Arc Flash practices.
- Ability to install explosion-proof outlets, lighting, and equipment.
Responsibilities
- Install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair facility electrical systems and components, including distribution, motor controls, panels, disconnects, and lighting.
- Install step-down transformers (480V to 120V) and wire power to equipment.
- Bend conduit, pull wire, and land new circuits in accordance with facility standards and best practices.
- Assist with new equipment installations, including power drops, panel modifications, and coordination with vendors and contractors.
- Install and test ground rods.
- Upgrade fluorescent lighting ballasts to LED.
- Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on electrical systems to maximize uptime.
- Perform LOTO for electrical and mechanical isolation work.
- Follow Arc Flash safety protocols, including PPE selection and boundary awareness.
- Ensure compliance with OSHA, NFPA, NEC, and local building codes.
- Support facility expansion, capital improvement, and infrastructure upgrade projects.
- Respond to critical system issues, including power failures, equipment malfunctions, and environmental control disruptions.
- Assist with site-wide operations and support tasks as assigned.
- Work on an on-call basis and handle responsibilities assigned by management.
