About The Position

Select Milk Producers is hiring a Facilities Custodian to perform cleaning, janitorial, and related facility-support duties. The role maintains common areas, restrooms, break rooms, office spaces, and company houses, and helps keep custodial supplies, equipment, and work areas in good order. The position also supports workplace safety, environmental practices, food safety, food quality, and continuous improvement efforts. It may include snow removal, minor maintenance, providing vendors with access to cleaning areas, and training new staff on routine procedures.

Requirements

High school diploma or General Education Degree (GED) required.
Ability to understand verbal instructions and written and verbal communications.
Ability to understand, follow, and enforce safety procedures.
Ability to operate vacuums and related equipment.
Ability to safely use cleaning equipment and supplies.
Ability to use hand and power tools applicable to the trade.
Ability to lift and manipulate heavy objects.

Responsibilities

Clean and maintain building common areas, including vacuuming, mopping, cleaning restrooms, and restocking paper and soap supplies.
Clean and sanitize restrooms, break rooms, office spaces, and other common areas.
Clean and sanitize company houses as needed.
Perform routine maintenance on custodial equipment and supplies.
Empty trash receptacles, dispose of trash in compactors or dumpsters, and bag trash for proper disposal.
Unlock doors and ensure they are locked after cleaning areas.
Report needs and concerns to appropriate staff, including submitting or recommending work orders and checking supply levels.
Use and maintain equipment and supplies properly and promote workplace safety and environmental practices.
Assist with on-the-job training of new staff on routine procedures.
Perform cleaning functions specific to assigned facilities or seasonal and project requirements.
Provide vendors access to areas for cleaning, answer basic questions, and report vendor issues to a supervisor as needed.
Assist with or perform snow removal and minor maintenance, such as replacing light bulbs, adjusting furniture, and unclogging pipes.
Maintain a neat and orderly janitor’s room and ensure cleaning and maintenance supplies are stocked.
Help examine the facility for safety hazards and report deficiencies to a supervisor or Safety Supervisor.
Participate in efficiency and improvement efforts that support a culture of continuous improvement.
Be responsible for food safety and food quality.
Perform other miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
