The NC Legislative Building, constructed in 1963, and the Legislative Office Building, constructed in 1982, comprise the Legislative Complex where the North Carolina General Assembly (NCGA) conducts legislative business. The Facility Maintenance department is essential in the appearance and preservation of the NCGA buildings and offices. The General Assembly requires a dedicated team of Facilities Custodians to ensure a level of excellent presentation, cleanliness, and orderliness for the public, legislative staff, and elected officials; as set by the high standards of the NCGA. The Facilities Custodian are an essential part of daily operations, responsible for the maintenance, sanitation, and cleanliness of assigned areas of the legislative complex. To be successful in this role, the applicant must be able to follow instructions and pay close attention to details in a highly populated environment. The person in this position must have a strong work ethic, a courteous attitude, and the ability to work well within a team. The position also requires the ability to be extremely flexible in working extended hours and weekends to meet the needs of the General Assembly. Facilities Custodians work under the guidance of a Facilities Custodian Supervisor and all facilities custodial services are managed by the Facilities Maintenance Manager.
