About The Position

The Facilities & Building Services Technician is responsible for the safe, efficient, and continuous operation of building systems within a 24/7 hospital environment. This role ensures critical infrastructure, including HVAC, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and fire life safety systems, are maintained to the highest standards. The technician plays a key role in supporting hospital operations, regulatory compliance, and emergency response, with an emphasis on Fire Life Safety coverage.

Requirements

High School Diploma or equivalent.
Minimum 3–5 years of experience in facilities, plant operations, or building maintenance in a healthcare or similar environment.
Strong working knowledge of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and mechanical systems.
Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and system schematics.
Demonstrated ability to respond effectively in emergency situations.
Strong communication and teamwork skills.

Responsibilities

Operate, maintain, and repair HVAC, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and building systems.
Perform routine inspections and preventive maintenance to ensure uninterrupted hospital operations.
Respond to and troubleshoot system failures, alarms, and emergency situations.
Support Fire Life Safety operations including coordination during fire alarms, drills, and emergency events.
Interface with FDNY and other regulatory agencies as required.
Maintain accurate records of work orders, inspections, and maintenance activities.
Collaborate with internal departments and external vendors to ensure timely completion of work.
Ensure compliance with OSHA, FDNY, and hospital safety standards.
Participate in a rotating schedule to support 24/7 facility operations, including weekends and holidays.
