The Facilities Associate will perform general maintenance and repairs for assigned equipment and facilities including plumbing, electrical, basic carpentry, heating and cooling, and other building systems.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Prolonged periods standing and walking.
  • Must be physically able to climb ladders, bend, or crawl into awkward spaces.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at a time.

Nice To Haves

  • Related experience preferred.
  • Multiple trade experience strongly encouraged.
  • Handyman experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Management of a designated segment of NYCBS/NYHealth locations, including interaction with outside contractors/facilities and supervisor concerning building construction, HVAC and any other related matters.
  • Obtain documents/quotes/bids for building maintenance/construction.
  • Evaluate proposals for specification compliance and make recommendations to Facilities Director and SVP of Operations.
  • Review/Manage and/or inspect work of outside vendors for quality, accuracy, and completeness.
  • Inspect and identify equipment or machines in need of repair.
  • Troubleshoot issues to determine necessary repairs.
  • Plan repair work using building blueprints or equipment manual as needed.
  • Perform general repairs that do not require a specialized technician. Examples may include repairing drywall, painting, and repairing doors and other building fixtures.
  • Perform routine maintenance on building systems.
  • Clean and assist with upkeep of the facilities.
  • Order supplies and materials needed for repairs and maintenance.
  • Communicate with on-site supervisors at designated locations for items that need to be addressed.
  • Ensure compliance of all NYCBS locations with applicable federal, OSHA and/or state laws, regulations, and/or agency rules, standards and guidelines, etc.
  • Develop appropriate safety and/or service plans to alleviate risk, provide protection, etc for occupants of all NYCBS locations.
  • Monitor maintenance tracking software for tickets/requests on assigned locations.
  • Monitor and evaluate operations, programs, processes and/or practices for quality and effectiveness; make recommendations for improvement.
  • Perform repairs in and outside of all assigned NYCBS locations.
  • Be flexible to work some weekends/nights.
  • Other duties as assigned.
