About The Position

Responsible for overseeing and maintaining the building, equipment, and grounds to ensure proper maintenance and cleanliness. This role involves performing routine building maintenance, minor repairs, and ensuring scheduled maintenance on various equipment. The position also focuses on maintaining the safety and cleanliness of both interior and exterior areas, managing contractors and vendors, and preparing the facility for weather conditions. Additionally, the Facilities Associate will oversee powered equipment training, support budget adherence, and maintain sanitation, health, and safety standards according to various guidelines.

Requirements

  • Must be 18 years of age or older
  • Possess a high school or equivalency diploma
  • Possess a valid New York State driver's license
  • Ability to obtain and maintain power equipment certification
  • Ability to lift up to 80 pounds without assistance

Responsibilities

  • Performs routine building maintenance as appropriate.
  • Performs minor repairs in the warehouse and office spaces.
  • Ensures scheduled maintenance is performed on refrigeration, forklifts, doors, etc.
  • Monitors the safety and cleanliness of interior and exterior areas, including offices, conference rooms, warehouse, and parking lots.
  • Schedules routine inspections and emergency repairs with outside contractors/vendors.
  • Oversees the work of contractors and vendors.
  • Builds and maintains positive and effective working relationships with contractors and vendors.
  • Prepares the facility for changing or inclement weather conditions.
  • Oversees and serves as the trainer for powered equipment training.
  • Supports fiscal responsibility while staying within the budget.
  • Maintains warehouse sanitation, health, and safety standards following guidelines from Feeding America, AIB, New York State, the USDA, and other regulatory bodies.
  • Inspects power equipment prior to use.
  • Follows all safety standards and procedures.
  • Works independently and collaboratively with other departments and employees in support of the mission of the Food Bank.
  • Adheres to the Food Bank's Employee Code of Conduct.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
