About The Position

Radford University’s Department of Biology is seeking a Facilities and Instrumentation Coordinator that is highly motivated to support our faculty and students in their vibrant research programs and active teaching. In this role, you will work collaboratively with diverse faculty, staff, and students. We actively support our AP faculty with access to professional development opportunities, funding for conference and professional development opportunities, and encourage participation in departmental, college, and university-wide events. Provide logistical support and coordination of department research and teaching laboratories by 1) maintaining the operation of equipment including but not limited to micropipettes, balances, microscopes, iSeq, DI filter systems, IRMS; 2) supervising work study students and facilitating prep room activities; 3) ordering and receiving teaching laboratory supplies and equipment; 4) managing grant budgets and ordering supplies and materials as directed by principal investigators; and 5) acting as department liaison with Academic Computing and Facilities Management. This 12-month position will begin on August 10, 2026. We actively support our AP faculty with access to professional development opportunities through Radford’s Center for Innovative Teaching and Learning, funding for conference and professional development opportunities, and encourage participation in departmental, college, and university-wide events. Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Biology, Chemistry, Physics, or similar, OR Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Chemistry, Physics, or similar, plus three years of experience that equates to a Master’s degree.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working in either a laboratory setting or budgeting and management setting.
  • Good organizational skills for planning routine maintenance of equipment, but also flexibility where troubleshooting can be unpredictable.
  • Ability to manage undergraduate students and facilitate training for shared departmental equipment.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to service, repair, and maintain equipment.
  • Familiarity with commonly used computer software and hardware, and accounts management.
  • Curiosity to learn about new equipment and computer software.
