About The Position
Steamoji is an innovative STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math) academy designed to help kids build skills for the future through hands-on learning, design thinking, and cutting-edge technology. Our brand-new Castro Valley location is currently in development and opening soon! We are seeking an energetic, adaptable, and community-driven leader to help build our academy from the ground up.
Requirements
- High school or college/university student (or equivalent) looking for a rewarding part-time position working with youth.
- Basic knowledge of coding and technology, or a strong ability and willingness to learn basic technological concepts quickly.
- Prior experience working with, teaching, or mentoring children.
- Strong communication skills with both kids and parents.
- High energy, approachable, adaptable, and a strong team player.
Responsibilities
- Review instructional videos before each session and assist with the deployment of Steamoji projects.
- Work directly with groups of 4–6 apprentices, guiding them through the maker process and helping them overcome obstacles.
- Assist apprentices with fabrication tools, physical computing kits, and equipment while ensuring strict safety protocols are followed.
- Capture video artifacts of apprentice progress and provide constructive feedback to parents.
- Embody Steamoji’s core values to maintain an energetic, inspiring, and collaborative learning space.
