About The Position

Design, weld and fabricate new and existing equipment, parts and tools. This role is responsible for maintaining all welding and fabrication equipment and supplies. The Fabricator will build, create, and design equipment throughout the facility based on received orders, utilizing welding and other fabrication equipment. The position also requires maintaining testing requirements, keeping training up-to-date, and possessing knowledge of and utilizing the Simmons Hot Works Program as needed. As a member of the team, the Fabricator will participate in ongoing development, communication, and implementation of team concepts, programs, and policies, coordinating work to ensure B.E.S.T practices with all team members. This includes attending team meetings, fostering cohesiveness on major issues, accepting responsibility to identify areas lacking cohesiveness, and working with the team to resolve issues and achieve synergy. The role also involves understanding Simmons’ operating systems (quality, security, office environment, company policies) and the impact of individual actions on these systems, communicating concerns and improvement ideas. The position description is intended to guide activities and encourage creativity, not limit the scope of the role.

Requirements

  • Proficiency in various types of welding such as MIG, TIG and stick.
  • Knowledge and use of oxy acetylene torch and plasma cutter.
  • Computer skills.
  • Must have the ability to make good decisions and communicate effectively with others and leadership team.
  • Have the ability to handle multiple projects and meet deadlines.
  • Have the ability to seek out and solve problems.
  • Must work on feet the entire shift with lifting, pushing, pulling, stooping, bending and working in the extreme heat or cold.
  • Be able to lift, push or pull up to 100 pounds.

Nice To Haves

  • Preference for poultry or food processing organization.
  • Military experience is valued.

  • Maintain any testing requirements as set forth by your supervisor or company.
  • Keep up to date any training that will be needed for this position.
  • Possess knowledge of and utilize Simmons Hot Works Program as needed.
  • Participate as a member of the Team.
  • Participate in ongoing development, communication and implementation of team concepts, programs and policies; coordinate work to ensure B.E.S.T practices with all team members.
  • Attend appropriate team meetings.
  • Foster strong cohesiveness regarding all major issues; e.g., direction, annual plan, budget, policy changes, etc.
  • Accept responsibility to quickly identify any areas that lack cohesiveness, bringing them to the attention of the team leader and working with the team in a supportive manner to resolve issues and actively look for ways, and reinforce actions needed, to achieve synergy possible within the larger organization.
  • Be familiar with Simmons’ established operating systems (e.g. quality, security, office environment, company policies); understand the responsibility to maintain familiarity with the systems and this position’s role in support of these systems - including a consideration of the impact of individual actions on the systems and the responsibility to communicate concerns and improvement ideas.
  • Perform other duties as necessary in support of business objectives.
