About The Position

This role involves performing various fabrication and welding tasks across different manufacturing areas, including TIG welding, sheet metal fabrication, and assembly. The fabricator will be responsible for operating machinery, interpreting blueprints, ensuring quality standards, and maintaining a safe work environment. The position requires a strong mechanical aptitude and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.

Requirements

  • Previous experience in at least one of the following areas: TIG welding, MIG welding, Welding/fabrication, Sheet metal fabrication, Brake press operation, Grinding or metal finishing, Evaporator fabrication, Breath Guard fabrication or assembly, Manufacturing assembly, Waterjet operation, Mechanical fabrication, Related skilled manufacturing experience.
  • Ability to read and understand blueprints, sketches, process sheets, measurements, and/or work instructions.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently on complex assignments.
  • Strong attention to detail and visual accuracy.
  • Ability to safely operate manufacturing equipment and hand/power tools.
  • Ability to perform material handling associated with the position.
  • Ability to work effectively with supervisors, leads, and team members.
  • Ability and willingness to successfully complete required welding and/or brazing qualification testing when applicable.

Nice To Haves

  • Welding experience is preferred for welding-focused assignments.
  • Brake press experience is preferred for sheet-metal-focused assignments.
  • Candidates who bring strong experience in one or more areas of fabrication, welding, sheet metal, assembly, machining, or skilled manufacturing and are willing to learn additional processes.

Responsibilities

  • Perform TIG welding on aluminum, steel, stainless steel, and other materials.
  • Fabricate, fit, cut, shape, and join components according to specifications.
  • Set up and operate welding equipment, tooling, fixtures, and related machinery.
  • Perform grinding, polishing, deburring, and other metal-finishing operations.
  • Work from blueprints, sketches, weld symbols, process sheets, schedules, and verbal instructions.
  • Weld, wrap, foam, and assemble evaporator hoppers, barrels, and related components.
  • Organize materials and components to complete assemblies within required production schedules and engineering specifications.
  • Set up and operate equipment including welding, grinding, wrapping, extruding, spot welding, facing, polishing, and foaming equipment.
  • Support a lean pull system from barrel welding through final foaming.
  • Coordinate work and assist with scheduling activities to meet production demand.
  • Identify improper fits, defects, equipment issues, and operating difficulties and take appropriate corrective action.
  • TIG weld aluminum, steel, and stainless-steel components for Breath Guard manufacturing.
  • Assemble Breath Guard components and finished products according to blueprints, schematics, work instructions, and verbal direction.
  • Operate hand tools, power tools, fixtures, and light machinery safely and effectively.
  • Support cross-training and work across multiple functions within the manufacturing cell.
  • Ensure products meet quality, safety, and delivery expectations.
  • Set up and perform sheet metal operations including shearing, forming, punching, deburring, spot welding, and waterjet operations.
  • Operate brake presses and other sheet metal equipment.
  • Perform complex layouts, setups, measurements, and inspections for sheet metal fabrication.
  • Make adjustments to templates, tooling, and equipment to maintain quality standards.
  • Perform material handling and maintain an organized work area.
  • Inspect parts, components, welds, and finished products to ensure they meet engineering and quality specifications.
  • Identify defects, improper fits, equipment malfunctions, and other production concerns.
  • Initiate corrective action to resolve routine and complex manufacturing problems.
  • Report major malfunctions and recurring difficulties to the appropriate supervisor or lead.
  • Assist with product failure analysis, troubleshooting, and in-field service when required.
  • Exercise sound judgment, initiative, and ingenuity when determining how to complete complex jobs.
  • Follow all company safety policies, procedures, PPE requirements, and established manufacturing practices.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area in accordance with 5S and lean manufacturing principles.
  • Perform required material handling associated with assigned work.
  • Maintain equipment and tools in good working condition.
  • Assist and advise other employees as directed.
  • Support cross-training and continuous improvement efforts.
  • Provide assistance with other manufacturing activities and duties as assigned.
